AoC - RpPvP Guild
The other two servers seem to being doing this, so lets hop on this band wagon.
Anyone in particular partial towards Organizing the Legion of the Broken Oar? I'll take up the slack if need be, but I'm going to be off and on until mid july as I get ready for grad school, and all that entails-- moving and the like.
If you need help picking a class, I'll list off our class types on the first post as they are stated. Ball rolling:
Conqueror
Cramps
Takouba:
Sigon - Aquilonian Guardian
Takouba - Stygian Assassin
Ithan - Cimmerian Barabarian
Gore:
Erog
Bevin
MisterProof:
necromancer Xathan,
assassin Silene
Herald of Xotli Komodo.
So far the main character being Xathan.

How exactly will the PvP-RP servers be different from the PvP servers? All I can find is they say that there will be more RP rules but are they just implied, or is there functionality differences?
It will be the same basic rule set, but they will be enforcing a few rules (naming convention, no ooc talk in general) things like that, but as for gameplay it should be the same.

I like RP, but I don't know if the RP server will have enough people to make it exciting. I am torn as to going with just the PvP server or going RP.
There's only one RPPvP server, so the worry is actually the opposite -- over population, not under population.

I would be interested in Guild Organization in RP-PvP. My main concern right now is not server population, but GWJ population. I like the idea of an RP server, but I fear that the Legion may end up being a smaller guild that will have to be absorbed into a larger one to be viable in the end game batlles between guilds. However, I think that this will be my main as of now. Cramps - lets try to scour the lists and see who will be using mains on RP-PvP:
I know that Maladen, Pigpen, and me will be here. I would make the assumption of you as well
. Want to add to your original post - names of main guys for this server?
Edit: I went scrolling through the names in the other posts - as far as I can tell most people jumped ship while you were manning the bilges, Cramps, and have shifted over to plain PvP. If the idea is for us to play with other GWJ folks we may be better off just being absorbed by the collective and going to straight PvP.
Edit 2: I am just going to move to PvP and PvE as my mains. Otherwise we just dont have the people and the rulesets dont seem that much different as explained to me.

Yeah for now I am going to hop on over to Deathwisper as I rathr be a group that had a chance. I mean we could join with a random guild which may be fine but in the end I am not really a RP myself.
I like the idea of keeping the same guild name so people can find us when they come over from different servers. But most importantly I want to stay together. So if all the RP-PVP'ers get together and want a new name, I'll follow.
I'm the kind of nut that will level a character on two different servers.
I'll set up a character on Cimmeria, and basically establish "A Place For The Legion".
I figure I can pop in and out of Deathwisper as it will obviously be pretty established.
Sooner or later, I'll want to RP, and it'll just be kind of hassle to switch modes from High Level to grinding up lowbie.
I can see the worry about the GWJ-based guild being absorbed into a larger guild because of lack of numbers. Still, to have some kind of establishment on the RP-PvP server might work out well, for anyone on the "main" server that's ready to change the pace or the feel.
In saying that I would be willing to level and (if I can, once at the appropriate level) set up the Legion Of The Broken Oar on Cimmeria, I will be doing minimal if any recruiting, but not before posting on GWJ -the idea here being that everyone who was initially interested in RP but defaulted to standard PvP is *still* the core of the guild, and the council, as such. I was one of the founding members in Swat's WoW guild (horde faction), and always voted for Quality Of Players and People than Quantity Of Raiders. That core group has held to the standard that a good guild with integrity and skilled players who can work as a team will attract like members.
Again, I'm just taking that so that we have some sort of base camp.
Oup! Patches are up! See you guys in the trenches! Good hunting!
I don't see Cimmeria as an option, but it does list a server named Bane as "Culture PVP". Has the server been renamed??
my vote cancels out yours
I noticed that, too. I am guessing that "Culture PvP" equates to "RP-PvP" and that Bane was given that designation. Cimmeria is definitely NOT the RP-PvP.

I'd like to get some clarification on what servers are RP, the official boards still won't let me in with my forum name/pass. I leveled an Assassin to 5 on Cimmeria but won't go any further if it's a basic PvP server..

AFAIK, Cimmeria *is* the RP-PvP server, but is not labeled such. "Culture PvP" is apparently like RvR - so Stygian versus Aquilonian versus Cimmerian.
I'm playing on Cimmeria at the moment. If it gets ugly and nobody else shows up, I'll look to split my time with one of the other servers.
Gore, what's your character(s) in Cimmeria? I'm cutting up my time a bit between Cimmeria and Deathwisper.
On Cimmeria, I set up one of each to account for the Culture PvP stuff:
Sigon - Aquilonian Guardian
Takouba - Stygian Assassin
Ithan - Cimmerian Barabarian
All still low level (Sigon is the highest with 7 or so as of now), but I figure we got some time to get the feel of things.
Oh! Swat, you're on there too? What's your character's name? Yeah, I think it's labelled as (RP) once you've made a character...crazy though, I'm like: Does it patch EVERY time I log in? Seems so.
I thought that Cimmeria is NOT the Culture-PvP
Bane is the cultural PvP server

Eeek...! So..."if" there's gonna be an RP presence, better to roll on Cimmeria, or scrap the Cimmeria characters and re-roll on Bane?
Because again, I know that sooner or later, I'd like to RP in this setting, and I'd feel better not having to regrind from scratch when I get the hankering to RP. RPing while you're low level seems to mean either no levelling and all chatting or just doing "power grind" stuff in character... Which, I've done before...and it's not that bad.
Just wanna have some kinda familiarity on the RP server(s) from the beginning.
To make it clear - Bane is not RP-PvP, it is "Culture PvP." "Culture PvP" is presumably like WoW's PvP servers, where you cannot fight people who are of your same faction. In the case of AoC, "culture" means Cimmerian, Aquilonian, or Stygian.
Cimmeria is now one of 2 RP-PvP servers. I have a barb on Cimmeria, level 18 I think. My characters on all the GWJ servers are:
Erog
Bevin
I am also playing on Deathwhisper and have a ~15 level Ranger there. I'm trying to split my time between them. It's worth noting that I've been seeing queue times on Deathwhisper, but none on Cimmeria. If I encounter a queue, I just play on Cimmeria.
Oh, and I believe Cimmeria is properly labeled as RP-PvP in the in-game server selection list now. It wasn't labeled such initially.
I am on Cimmeria playing a necromancer called Xathan, an assassin called Silene and a Herald of Xotli called Komodo.
So far the main character being Xathan.
The RP hasn't begun yet since most people are still fumbling around with the interface and solo quests.
The main issue I see with having a fourth ruleset ("Culture PvP" in addition to PvE, PvP and RP-PvP) is the limited number of character slots.
By the time I have a reasonable number of slots allocated to official GWJ servers, I certainly don't want to give one up for a fourth server.
Your Quote Here!
Do we have a guild set up in Cimmeria? My current character is on the other RP-PVP, but he's not too far in and I'm okay with starting over. I'd like to be sure that GWJ will have a presence on the server though.

I joined Cimmeria on day 1...so I'm on there...
Unless you're running out of mana overhealing is the most worthless stat in the game. Underhealing is effectively known as "wiping".
so sayeth the Bear...
I hear it, Gore. Because of the queue times on Deathwisper, I've been finding myself on Cimmeria more and more. For me, it's less about "dividing my time between the two servers" and more "playing the one that doesn't have a five minute queue I'm on there as:
Sigon, guardian
Takouba, assassin
Ithan, barbarian
Kamber, Dark Templar
Please feel free to message and / or add me to the list. I'll keep checking in to see if The Legion is up yet. If not, I'll post when I'm level appropriate for it. I actually think we'll have a solid standing on Cimmeria. There's also some folks that seem like decent RPer's on there. I've got a running list, but I'm still scoping them out. To keep an eye out for the names, I'm watching:
Raellen
Volrath
Khami
- and possibly:
Erik
Celleste
Just for future reference, in terms of RP interaction / grouping. See you in the trenches. Good hunting.
Hubby and I are on Chimmeria as well.

I made a couple of characters on Cimmeria to try out something different. I'll post here if they ever go anywhere.

I see everyone saying that their's only one PvP/RP server, but when I joined I hopped on Hyperborea because, well, it encompassed the writing better in my mind and was labeled as RP. I know I don't post a lot, but if no one is on Hyperborea then I may just make a new character in Cimmeria. I'm not very far in yet anyways. I think someone should put together an RP guild somewhere at least though.

Hyperborea was just added. Cimmeria was there at launch.

Ok, I have Vice, an assassin, on the Cimmeria server. Totally interested in attempting to get into a good RP group, hit me up with a friend invite (or however this all works).

Cimmeria Update:
So, for me, the going's been a bit slow, largely due to wrapping up some pretty big contract work and doing some home improvement stuff. I'm not high enough (on Kamber) to set up a guild yet -don't know if anyone else is, either, or if we have enough people coming out of the Cimmeria woodworks to properly form up yet- but for the meantime, I've joined up with the guild "Den Of Thieves." They seem decent enough, they're building alliances with a few other guilds, and they seem to have pretty solid mods / officers. They have a pretty strict PVP rule; no wanton killing, unless it's someone (or someone in a guild) that's on the KoS list. I've seen about four or five people booted directly from guild after receiving hostile responses to "So-and-so, why are you killing random people?" Other points that I can remark on so far is something of an absence of "leet speak" and the general adolescent tomfoolery (see also: derogatory vocabulary) that seems to accompany PvP based MMORPGs. They seem to work well together, the officers are engaged, they players I've encountered so far seem well-mannered enough to make logging on fun, and there's big guild encouragement to group up.
Also. /embarrassed cough. I still haven't figured out how to add people to my friends list without seeing their names in chat or getting a tell from them. So if you see me, please feel free to send a tell to say hi.
Good hunting, folks! See you in the trenches!
