X-Box 360 dominates the world...just not counting the Wii

Sounds to me like they don't count the Wii as a current gen console.

No hi def, very little 3rd party AAA title support, and the worst implementation of "online" play I've ever seen? Yeah, I wouldn't count it as a current gen console either.
*edit*
Not trying to be a hater either... I own a Wii and would love for it to be able to compete, but lately it's done nothing but gather dust next to my PS2. I've been having more fun playing through MGS3 again than the current crop of Wii titles.

Now there's a good idea for all kinds of foreign policy...
Seems like typical MS wiggle-wording to make themselves look good...
I'm surprised they think anyone will take them seriously over this claim...
I will open one of my six mouths, and sing the song that ends the Earth.
Well the Wii has them beat on consoles sold; however, games sold per console the 360 leaves the Wii in the dust...

Look, Sony PS3s are still not counted with Blu-Ray player sales. I do not think Nintendo needs to sweat this. Both cry all the way to the bank.
Well, kinda.
Nintendo actually makes money on every Wii sold.

If game console sales were to have a Mendoza Line, it would probably be the Dreamcast Line.
All 3 consoles come in above the Dreamcast Line (10.6 million lifetime). There's enough success to go around and keep everyone in business. As a gamer, I really couldn't care less about the details beyond that.

I don't know. The corporate chest beating is kind of amusing.
Especially coming from Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo really has been pretty muted considering they are handing the big boys asses to them. Then again, they may be shy to boast too much after the Gamecube.
It's an odd market though, when you think about it. I always felt like Nintendo did a pretty bad job last time around, but the Gamecube was still relatively solid all things considered. Not to mention it was a financial success even if it did come in last in sales. If you can overlook the 360's reliability problems (I call mine "The Time Bomb") there really isn't a "bad" console out there right now either.

I work for a video game company, and I consistently hear from the developers how hard it is to program games on the ps3.

They're somewhere up there on their own cloud and don't feel like participating in whatever goes on 'beneath' them. They, however, did issue press releases when the DS hit the 10 million mark in Europe and North-America.
I can handle the chest beating. At least Microsoft isn't making ads like this (Oh, very NSFW).

It's worthwhile to keep in mind that these comments are targeted at shareholders, rather then gamers. A whole different sort of language.

We could be at a point where PS3 sales are on an upswng. Looking at Amazon's current sales ranking a moment ago, the PS3 is at #9 and the 360 is at #25. At a price now only $50 more than the 360, you get BluRay and onboard wireless. You lose the 360 exclusives, but you also don't get the 360's well-publicized reliability problem and the intrusive racket of the fan and drive combo. Seems like a whole new race to me.
Also, MS needs to get on the ball pronto in advertising their really kick-ass upcoming titles. The did a bit of that recently, and GoW2 maybe is building up some blood-splattering PR momentum, but the PS3 actually seems like it's got more very interesting titles coming out this year. They've been discussing Little Big Planet, SOCOM, Killzone 2 and some other games that really sound like they could be winners.
Could it really be that the PS3 has more interesting games to look forward to than the 360? I think Fable 2, GoW2, Alan Wake, Banjo, etc. could be great, but they're seemingly just getting their marketing rolling now while Sony's been beating the drum for awhile.
Does that mean they're less intelligent than gamers??
