Reboot!

Anybody remember watching Reboot back in the day? I believe it was the first all CGI show.
Looks like something is in the works!

Well, i suppose the name fits this action pretty well.
I remember the show but i never really watched it as i was almost exclusively a BBC1 child.

I loved Reboot! and was just thinking about how I'd like to get them all on DVD, especially since it appears I missed all of season 4 because I thought season 3 was the end cause it was so damn good.

Yeah, I was quite happy to see a show taking that first important step!
The same when I went to the theater to watch 'Toystory'
Will see what happens with this series now... movie or a whole new gen?

Let's just say that a friend of mine 'lent' my the Season 1 collection over the weekend and I've been watching them with my 5 year old due to the countdown at Reboot.com, and I was actually just about to start a thread very much like this one as I was thinking about it today! The show holds up surprisingly well story-wise, even though the animation is much less impressive that it was back in the day. Let's just say that I enjoyed the series in 1994 when it originally aired, and I'm anxious to see what the powers that be intend to do with it!
However, it's too bad that Tony Jay (the voice of Megabyte) passed away a few years ago.

Good luck! The last season is haed to find and even if you find it, like 100 bucks per dvd.
But...I present to you linkage. An aspiring user on youtube has all the episodes up.

Same here. Maybe that's why there was no season 5.

I have every episode. I loved this show as a kid. Maybe they're remaking it. o.o
I really am excited now to know what they're doing.

Damn, I read something really, really recently regarding this, but I can't find it...
EDIT: Ahh, here we go. I'm pretty sure the countdown is in regards to this. They also have some information up on Wiki regarding the whole thing as well.

I was hoping that's what this thread was about. Awesome news.
The only CG show I liked better was War Planets.

I wish someone would release the first two seasons domestically.
I was rewatching it a couple of weeks ago, and Season 3 still looks pretty good today. The only CG shows I enjoyed nearly as much were Beast Wars, by the same company, and Roughnecks, which sadly never saw a conclusion. The theme tune still rattles around in my head from time to time.

Nice, I watched that as a child. I was impressed at that time, and it was a great series.
I don't watch, I interact!
I was able to buy seasons 3 and 4 on DVD while they were still available. I wish someone would release seasons 1 and 2. Right now I'm watching VHS transfers that I burned to a couple of DVDs. (Though the DVD box art that I made is pretty cool, even if I do say so myself.) One of the episodes has an audio sync issue that I wasn't able to fix (Race the Clock), but at least I'm able to share the wonderfulness of early CGI animation with my daughter.
I also wish they'd rerelease season 4 with the audio fixed. They pitched it down so the new guy doing Bob 2.0's voice would sound more like Bob 1.0 (apparently not realizing that the original voice actor makes an appearance as Bob 1.0) and everyone sounds like they're high.
And just to burnish my Nerd Cred, I have all three of the little folding Playsets-- the Megabyte one, the Hexadecimal one and the Hack/Slash one. Kind of like Polly Pocket for boys-- you open the case and inside there are a few half-inch tall figures from the show and some vehicles or turrets or some such for them to battle on. They're in a box somewhere, packed away safe.
I second Kurrelgyre's sentiments. I have Beast Wars and Roughnecks on DVD. (Roughnecks is so much better that the Starship Troopers movie, IMO. The series explains why the troops in the movie lacked any air support-- the pilots have an annoying tendency to bend the airplane every single time they leave the hangar!) (Won't touch Beast Machines, though. Too preachy for my tastes.) Did anyone else get a lump in the throat when Dinobot died?
A lot of the older CGI shows hold up really well. I suspect it's because CGI animation was so expensive early on that they spent extra effort to make sure the writing was good so the show would have some appeal once the novelty wore off. I'd like to get War Planets too, but I don't think it's available anymore and anyway I don't have it in the budget to buy another TV series right now.
It's not a CGI show, but I associate it with Reboot because they were on back-to-back where i lived, was Bump in the Night. Claymation show about the monster that lives under your bed and eats socks. Doesn't hold up as well as Reboot, but still manic fun.

No, Dinobot! Don't override emergency stasis lock!
He beat transmetal Megatron with a stick and a rock. That was the best episode of the series IMHO and totally validated why I still love this series even to this day.

The Roughnecks Episode with the robot was similar, though not as emotionally jarring since we hadn't had time to get used to him yet. "Roughnecks! Ho!"
Not to get off topic but one of my favorite Beast Wars episodes was the one were the Preds infected Optimus Primal (love that pun, by the way) with a virus that was supposed to make him afraid of everything. Instead, it turned him into an unstoppable killing machine. That scene where he pins Taranchulas to the wall was awesome.

Back to Reboot, I really did like what they did with Enzo in season 3. Matrix is a pretty cool character, though I was severely disappointed in him for not just shooting Megabyte and having done with the whole mess. He spends all his time killing viruses in other systems, only to spare Megabyte because... why?
Still, it was almost worth it to see the look on Megabyte's face when Matrix belts him in the chest and leaves a dent.
Hexadecimal is probably my favorite character, though.

I only watched a few episodes, but I did catch the one with Fax Modem and Data Nully, which was hilarious.
ROFLMAO!
Taste the Freshness!
I believe they actually got Gillian Anderson to play Data Nully (Let me check... Yep.). Fax Modem was easier-- they just needed some random guy who could speak without any inflection whatsoever.

I most definitely choked up when Dinobot died. Probably one of the best moments in a cartoon.

I was never mega-into this show, and when Enzo grew up and started brooding like noone's business, I kind of fell out. But I'm still in. Also, it made me imagine that every time I play a video game i'm nearly annihilating a society inside of my PC, which means, after enough games of Doom and F.E.A.R., that i'm a absolutely horrible murderer.

Reboot totally takes me back to my childhood. Oh man. I remember when they did the whole visual redesign for the last seasor or two, and suddenly all the chicks had boobs.
That was a big day, for me.
