McCain's Whitewater?

It looks like McClinton is morphing into the same entity.
There is only an up or down--up to a man's age-old dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order--or down to the ant heap totalitarianism,... those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.

Well, except that the Clintons were not implicated until an indicted fraudster made the claims against them, and there was no real evidence against them - they were never charged despite the massive ($60M+?) investigation the Republicans created. This looks like it could actually be real.

Prediction: just like in the case with this "female telecom lobbyist friend", the conservatives will rally to support him. Not because what he did is wrong, but because it is wrong to discuss it in the media -- it'd be tantamount to an "attack". Apparently one aspect of privacy the Republicans still hold sacred is the right to keep their corruption records private.
The matters of faith and loyalty, however, are an entirely different thing. This story can actually have legs: contrary to his claims McCain did NOT vote for Bush in 2000 general elections.

I wonder what sort of "straight talk" we'll hear about this.

When will people get upset about his nutbar pastor?

That actually makes me like McCain more.

edit: What? That he's lying about being a friend of Bush's before he wasn't? Sounds sort of being for something before he was against it.

You Democrats will go to any lengths to defend the Clintons, even dredging up meaningless "details" and "facts" in the face of overwhelming rhetoric!
