Don't you mean back to the big screen? There were other Buck Rogers before Gil Gerard.
When I was a kid, one of the local movie theaters would show one of the old Buck Rogers movie serials before each movie. They were a lot of fun.

Dude, that episode was one of the creepiest things I had seen on TV to that point. I had nightmares about it. I have seen it as an adult. Lets just say the scare factor drops considerably with age.

I've been rewatching all the episodes on Netflix instant the past couple of weeks. I am amazed at the amount of hotness in Spandex they put on screen: Erin Gray, Markie Post, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Oh, and that Miss Cosmos chick who I distinctly remember having impure thoughts about...repeatedly.
I own the original series. Just an FYI, the pilot episode was actually shown in movie theaters. I'm not sure it was ever shown on the big screen.
The show is so politically incorrect and the outfits on the women are so outlandish I wonder if they could even show it on TV today.
I absolutely love it, and while I agree the space vampire episode isn't near as scary now as it was then I think a lot of it is because we're really spoiled to special effects. Now it just seems cheesy.
I always had a thing for Erin Gray. I even tolerated Silver Spoons just because she was on it.
