I can't even imagine how much this thing costs but I guarantee you will become a legend among geeks if you purchase it. ![]()

Very neat. A quick google search brough up this, where I learned that there are no US/Canada dealers, but there is a UK one. The first lot is sold out, and they cost €2799, which Google's currency converter says is $4,316.62 US. If I were rich, I'd certainly buy it. If it projected holograms, I'd consider buying it without the "If I were rich" stipulation.
Edit-
www.exclusivestarwars.com is pretty much the authorized retailer for most of the world. It appears that nikkor is a scandinavian country, so there are more ways to get it in those countries. I also find it funny that Afghanistan has an authorized retailer (exclusivestarwars.com) but the US doesn't.

That is beyond awesome!
I just wish the remote wasn't an unwieldy Millennium Falcon model.

If one were to buy this, it would be fun to make or find some footage that just has the Princess Leia asking for help from Obi-Wan hologram. Just put that on a loop,in a corner during a party...or better still get friends to touch the droid and when they do covertly trigger the loop. ok,ok, that 4000 dollar practical joke would last 10sec , but it was the first thing i thought of.
Now to make a future Star wars gadget list. A C3PO backpack pack (think about it...). A severed Luke hand remote holder ,especially good for that unwieldy falcon remote.
Even better, a severed Luke hand remote control controller. You put the remote in the robotic hand and it does the channel surfing for you. Now we just need to find a way to link it to your mind, or you could just resign yourself to watching the Adam's Family on a continuous loop (hey, the hand knows what it likes).

I saw this at Digital Life in New York last year. It was pretty neat and seemed to produce some nice video, not for 5 grand though.

This seems like the kind of neato item that gets hauled out as a conversation piece every time you have a party, and ignored the rest of the time. If you can afford to pay that much for a projector, there are far better options at that price level. Only S-Video in? Lame. Maybe you could use the DVI port for higher resolution movie watching?
That being said, I love all the gadgetry they threw in, like the opening/revolving iPod dock and motorized angle changing. Wealthy Star Wars fans and what appears to be a limited quantity will virtually guarantee that these only go up in value.
Everything can be debated, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's debatable.
