The Dark Knight Catch-All (Batman Begins sequel)
Thursday, May 1st, 2008 - 7:56pm
Since we didn't have a consolidated thread on this movie before, I thought I'd create one since the new trailer is on the way. Speaking of which, someone did a side-by-side comparison of the previous trailer with the trailer for the Tim Burton Batman film. Damned if they aren't edited almost exactly alike.

I don't usually see a lot of movies opening night, but this will probably be an exception. Between this and the upcoming animated Dark Night direct-to-DVD movie, it'll be a good summer to be a Batman fan.
The new trailer is up.
"The trouble with fighting for human freedom is that one spends most of one's time defending scoundrels. For it is against scoundrels that oppressive laws are first aimed, and oppression must be stopped at the beginning if it is to be stopped at all."
Saw the trailer before the Iron Man movie.
Everything about Dark Knight has looked good so far. I'm kind of surprised they kept the Rachel Dawes character since they booted Katie Holmes. Even so, it looked fantastic.
Really wish Heath Ledger hadn't died. What a downer. I love his take on the Joker so far. He's going to give Nicholson a run for his money.

Wow, that is a shot-for-shot copy, clearly an intentional homage to the first Batman movie. I loved the 2 Tim Burton Batman films. They seem to get better with age, unlike the Superman movies.
We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.
I agree. It takes a recent "event" movie like LotR, SW:Ep.3, or the Pirates films to get me into the theater anymore but Dark Knight will be one of them. My most anticipated film since Return of the King.

I wasn't going to say anything in the Iron Man thread, but the original Batman still reigns in my book.
I think that the original Superman also holds up, even if the sequels don't.

Oh, and i do love the first two Batman movies. I wonder who allowed both George Clooney and Val Kilmer to don that suit after Michael Keaton? I mean, okay, at least Val's film had Seal's music but George? There's no excuse for the guy who authorised that... i hope that they're not still working in Hollywood.

I'd rather they'd cast Maggie Gyllenhaal the first time around. Katie Holmes was a friggin stain on that first film.
And I've loved Aaron Eckhart ever since Thank You For Smoking. And it looks like they're going to bother to develop the character of Harvey Dent this time around. That will definitely add some poignancy.

The supposed "1989" trailer is not the real trailer. Someone just took the time to edit together scenes from the first Batman that closely resemebled the The Dark Knight trailer. The real trailer can be seen here and is nothing like The Dark Knight trailer.

Two Face? (possible spoilers)
Whoa. If real, that is awesome and super-creepy. I love it.

Looks really convincing.

Between some of the scenes with the Joker and the possibility that's a real picture, I am starting to wonder if I'm going to have to screen this before the kids can see it.

I seem to remember hints in the older teasers about Two-Face showing up.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say he shows up. In the newest trailer they show the gasoline on the floor creeping toward Dent's face.

You can see Two face, if you watch the trailer you can see Harvey Dents burnt up face on the edge of his profile. But I do wish they would use Harvey in one movie and then turn him into two face for the next.

That's right, I see it now. It's the shot where Dent is sitting in the back of a car and holding a revolver.
