Greetings GooJers :

I just returned from a sneek Preview of Iron Man ..,. And all I have to say is

Wow

For once in a very long time i walked away from a comic Book movie which stayed not only close to the source material in feel and Content .I walked away with the sense that even if you knew nothing About Iron man or Marvel Comics in general you would still like this Movie ...Did i say Like ... I mean Love ... It is also well casted and acted and while the plot is perdactable it is still a fun movie and Unlike the transformers the cool scenes of the robots are reasonably well lit and the action is at the right pace to see .. I Know everyone is hoping for a Spoiler so i am going to give you two

1: Tony Stark Is Iron Man
2: James Rhodes is his friend

And I am aware these may only be spoilers for those who never read the Comics they are never the less spoilers

Enjoy the movie and if you are intrested in Details or my Opinion feel free to Pm Me

Robert

Yeah, I went to a screening this evening too. I went in blind, aside from seeing the trailer from last Christmas(?). Very enjoyable movie. It's no surprise that Downey is perfect in his role, but he really is perfect in that role. Small criticisms (very small): Typical Summer Action Movie Physics; Insta-Travel; Typical Summer Action Movie Product Placement. I also had a problem with Pepper that I'll be happy to get into when we get to spoilers. Overall, none of that was a big deal. It was a fun, fun movie. Good pacing; good story arc. Downey sold it. Excellent supporting cast, as well.

Hahhahaha,

Greatest review+spoiler ever!!!

I am, in fact, one of the few that know nothing about Iron Man.

I've never followed the comic (literally haven't read one issue) and I still look forward to this movie.

Usually by the trailer you can tell how much a comic-based movie will rock or blow (I'm looking at you Ghost Rider!!), sometimes you see the trailers, think "Hey! This could be a really great movie!" and THEN you really, really, REALLY get disappointed (I'm looking at you 70's disco-dancing Spider-Man3!!).

But there's something about the Iron-Man trailer that clicks. I can't judge the casting (again, never read a single issue), but the movie just gives off this 'I'm going to kick ass' vibe that rings true.

Looking fwd to the premier.

I'm excited. I've been trying not to be, simply because I do enjoy the comic... but my expectations are high. Still, I probably won't go see the movie on opening night. Too crowded. Crowded theaters don't make for fun movies... they just make for too many people in a not air-conditioned enough space.

My Iron Man fandom has wained a little in the last month because I've been busy with other things, but I'm still looking forward to a good movie featuring one of my favorite comic heroes.

It seems I get lucky with my favorites when it comes to movies. Hopefully I'll be able to stack this DVD next to Batman Begins and X-Men.

Me and a friend are playing "Hookey" on Friday, so we can go catch a daytime showing.

It's going to be a loooong forty-eight hours.

Saw this last night, and I gotta say it's my favourite superhero movie by miles. Downey, Jr. is absolutely fantastic as Stark and the action is superb in every single way.

Gonna go see it again on saturday...

I'm an avid Marvel fan and so appreciate all the comments above, I too was a little worried that my existing joy from the comics could be smashed by what they had submitted it to in the cinema..

Now its top of my list for an outing this weekend, once I've recovered from partying friday night..

Have to say my biggie for the summer has got to be Hellboy II, The Golden Army, hurry hurry..

I just came back from it, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely one of the best superhero movies made, even though I thought its comic book origins started poking through a bit much towards the end. Robert Downey JR was pretty excellent, and it always makes me warm and fuzzy when a character's main asset is his smarts.

I saw it yesterday and it ROCKS. Best superhero movie ever and I want to be Tony Stark, but without all the fighting and stress.

NOTE: Stay for the end credits! A friend forced me to stay and there's a sort of funny scene. Maybe you'll appreciate it more if you're a comic book fan.

Saw it. Pretty ordinary as far as comic book movies go. Very competently directed and acted, lots of suit sex, but the plot is completely worthless. If you've seen the trailers you know exactly what happens in this film. No surprises.

The best part is the middle of the film, seeing Tony Stark building his first real Iron Man suit and all the bizarre experiments he goes through. Iron Man was meant for CGI, seeing the suit in it's warmup routine is pure wood, every piece of the suit is a flight surface and can flutter and change to keep Tony in the air. Looks fantastic. Robert Downey Jr is perfectly cast.

We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.
