Selling Wii for 360 need game advice.

OK so I have made my decision to sell my Wii and get a 360. I play video games by myself 98% of the time so it seems to make the most sense. The 360 has more of my style of games.

I want to know what games I should get besides GTA IV and what games are coming in the future.
Please know that I am first a hardcore PC gamer and I hate playing FPS' with a controller. So what games does 360 have or will have that is not also coming out on PC and is not a FPS.

Thanks guys!

Thanks for standin' still!

Crackdown. It's awesome.

Don't you understand, Cliff? We put a chainsaw on a machine gun! That's it! It doesn't get more awesome than that! We've peaked, man! We've peaked! - ctrl-alt-del on Gears of War 2

Hey, I'm in the same boat... just bought a 360 and GTA IV today.

As always, my goal is to find (used) games for no more than $19.99 if possible

Although, playing by yourself does make the orginial XBOX downloads and the arcade games a good deal.

Yeah thats what I was worried about. Although I do like Ace combat and Too Human looks like it's going to be fun. I guess the way I look at it is I will be playing it more than the Wii so it makes sense for me to make the trade off.

For what it's worth, I got used to the controller/FPS thing really quickly. I still suck at COD4, but I enjoy the hell out of it.

I'd pick up GHII, since it's a great deal at the moment.

Definitely Crackdown. My other favorites.

Halo 3
Viva Pinata
Rock Band
Catan
Carcassonne
Pac Man: CE
Rez
All Pro Football 2k8
Psychonaughts (XBox Originals)
Backgammon

I've played more than that, but those are my favorites, the games in my regular rotation.

I have to say, though, this thread makes me happy partly in part because I've been debating getting a Wii. This helps put to bed those urges.

I second Skate. Really good game if you're into the subject matter at all. Rock Band should be a no brainer. Psychonauts and an xbox original was a really good suggestion as well.

Crackdown is an underappreciated gem. One of the things I really liked about it was that the "missions" are actually part of the world. I always hated how Grand Theft Auto and the Ace missions in Mercenaries pulled you out of the open world concept.

Not to get off topic, but if you're thinking about getting a Wii, DSGamer, you might want to consider why. Everyone plays on the 360 at my house. I keep hearing stories about households that have a 360 and a Wii where the kids can't get off the Wii, I can't get mine off the 360. I think the waggling thing wears off really fast. There are not enough games like Wii Sports where the motion control is actually put to good use or Smash Bros. where they don't contrive a stupid motion control scheme just because they can. Seriously, if it's a cross platform title there is no reason to get it on the Wii instead of the 360. The one exception might be Force Unleashed.

Avoid every licensed movie game and buy everything else. There's just so much awesome out there it's useless to have a list. You're probably well aware of the heavy hitters. Start with them first and work your way down

PS, enjoy the next two years of gaming, it's going to take you at least that long to get through them, and we're not even counting future releases.

Oh yeah like SommerMatt said, there are a TON of games hitting $19.99 and lower now. Some gems like Crackdown can even be as cheap as $9. Hell, even new releases drop to $39.99 within weeks now too, it's a trend I'm starting to enjoy.

Skate is such a beautiful game. I skate. So even just tooling around with the sound of the pavement is awesome.

Crackdown is pure. It's simplified. I dig that about it. It's just jump around a giant city and throw cars and blow stuff up. It's pure fun on a disc.

I hear you. And ultimately I'll probably listen to that voice of reason. The main reason for my interest in Wii is my aforementioned desire to play some creative games that aren't violent and aren't racers/sports games. The 360 lacks these, I find.

There are a few real gems on the Wii -- Super Mario Galaxy alone would justify the console purchase for me. Ultimately though, the Wii is fulfilling much the same role as my GameCube did last generation: being trotted out at parties (mainly for Double Dash back in the day, and I'm sure it'll be mainly for Mario Kart Wii now), but otherwise sitting dormant except for brief, but intense, periods of activity when Nintendo all-too-rarely comes down from the mountain with another AAA big-franchise title.

To me, that makes the Wii indispensable, even if it's very much my second console (behind the 360).

Wasn't sure if I should start a new thread or continue on with this one... oh well.

I took advantage of Gamestop's "buy 2 used games, get 1 free" offer today. Picked up BIOSHOCK, GEARS OF WAR, and OBLIVION (collector's edition with a little booklet, coin, and extra dvd disc) for about $75.

Holy crap, man! That's one hell of a haul.

You scored some great titles.

I'm not sure if you've ever played an Elder Scrolls game, but you might want to consider picking up the Oblivion Game Guide. I usually shy away from these things, but with a game-world as big as Oblivion, it's an indispensable companion. The guy who pens it (he also did the last game Morrowind), is a freakin' hoot and it makes the reading quite entertaining.

Anyway, congrats on some excellent choices.

I wanted DEAD RISING, but I was under the impression that the text was completely illegible on an SDTV.

Yeah, it is. Which reminds me that I need to pick that game up again. I had a 36" Sony Wega SDTV, and I got tired of trying to sit 2 feet from the screen to play it. But I've had an HDTV since lat July, so I should really give it another shot. It really was a great game.

One game that was a ton better than I had thought it would be is Tomb Raider: Legend. It is just a flat out great game, and I played through that entire game on my SDTV, so that wouldn't be a problem.

So let's say i DO sit 2 feet away from the screen... will I be able to make it out? Some of the text in GTAIV is pretty small (like the website news articles, for example) but I can still make them out. I guess I should just download the LIVE demo, huh?

You know, I bought DAGGERFALL for my old Pentium I PC back in the day, and I bought MORROWIND for the regular xbox... but I played MORROWIND for all of about 25 minutes. I hope I can stick with OBLIVION... I usually do better with "on the rails" JRPGs.

I played the demo of BIOSHOCK, and the opening scene scared the crap out of me.

I'm having mixed feelings about Oblivion so far myself.

They do a starter dungeon similar to Daggerfall, so no change there. Once you get out of the dungeon though it is a LONG time before you get to a town where you can sell your early crap and if you follow the plot near the beginning it throws you into a quest you're nowhere close to being ready for even if you're a veteran of the Elder Scrolls series.

Once I got a little more established I started getting a better vibe off the game, but I'm definitely put off by how they got the story rolling.

The punch line for me is that I didn't even start the Main Story Quest for a good 80+ hours into my first save file. I remember leaving the tutorial dungeon and meeting my first contact in the story quest. However, before even starting the first assignment, I got sidetracked with the Fighters Guild, and then the Mages Guild, and then side-quests and more guilds, etc. etc.

Now I've got well over 100 hours invested in the game and I'm nowhere near finishing the main story!

For games where the text is too small, one alternative is to pick up a cheap 360 VGA cable at Gamestop and plug it into a computer monitor. I did this with an old VGA monitor that was sitting unused in my closet. I prefer playing while sitting in front of the TV, but if I need it, the cable gets plugged in and I'm in high def.

You don't like console shooters, and you prefer solo play? Did the 360 orientation packet confuse you somehow?

With sparse exceptions, there is precious little on the Xbox 360 that your PC is not already giving you.
