Mortal Kombat vs. DC Comics... Wait... what!?

Well that was certainly unexpected.

My days of not taking you seriously have certainly come to a middle.

Well, it kinda fits. Most of DC's lineup is weapon-based (minus Supes) so it fits the Kombat aesthetic. I'd be intersted in seing Cyrax vs Lobo.
But, just to get snarky for a second, the LAST think the MK series needs to be looking at is expanding their roster. That's like Andre the Giant deciding he needs to wear lifts. MK's greatest strength has always been its cast of characters, and considering how crappy the fighting system has been for the past few games, I'd be more excited to see "MK vs Virtua Fighter," in the hopes of getting the series some decent gameplay.
[edit] - Oh wait, is the supposed to be a MKvsDC games, or a movie?

Game, supposedly rated Teen so no ripping out of Superman's spine.

I can't think of two smaller demographics of gamers than Mortal Kombat fans and DC comics fans . . . couldn't they work on something more appealing? Like a shark vs. tiger simulator?

Right now Capcom is welcoming them to eight years ago.
Seriously though, the last Mortal Kombat game I played was Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Somehow I don't think this'll pull me in.
No one's ever suggested a new signature, I'm beginning to suspect no one reads them.
Boo-urns.

This just sounds like a terrible idea. Has anybody seen a good fighting game with DC characters? the image I can't rip out of my mind is that awful Justice League fighter back in the Genesis/SNES days. I just can't see this being much better.

I thought we were told the last Mortal Kombat fighting game was Armageddon? Or Annihilation? Whichever was the last one?
And no spine-ripping? WTF? I guess DC didn't want you to be able to tear Batman's head off.
All in all, I'd much rather play that Tiger vs. Shark game.

So I guess the rumors were true... not that it makes it any better. Seriously, wth?

Can you imagine being the kid who is playing Scorpion and is beat by Aquaman?
as for BatMan vs. Subzero...
Batman beat a whole ARMY of ninjas and Mr. Freeze at the same time!!
Stupid idea for an irrelevant game that only had shock value going for it from the get go.

This is a late April Fools joke, right? Seriously, I will never stop laughing at this concept.

Aside from the fact that it seems a total rip-off of MARVEL VS. CAPCOM, I don't see anything particularly "laugh inducing" about this idea. MK needs a gimmick to freshen itself up and make it appeal to a new audience, and DC has had a pretty sh*t-tacular history of video games. Locking on to a "popular" fighting franchise might seem to make sense.
Surely this must be better than that horrific EA/Marvel fighter.

What?! No Darth Vader or Yoda are in it?
I want Darth Vader versus MK versus DC versus Marvel versus Super Smash Brothers versus Street Fighter versus Soul Caliber versus Dead or Jiggly!
Come on. Seriously? This is so laugh inducing. That picture on top says it all. Batman vs. Scorpion. Can you imagine the dude telling Batman to "Finish Him!"?
Now I'm starting to recall the Mortal Kombat movies and it gets even more laugh inducing.

Sub-Zero is probably rolling in his grave...!
Poor Sub-Zero.

That's a good point actually... is DC suddenly going to start letting Batman & Co. have fatalities ?
That doesn't sound right.
They'll have to have non-fatal fatalities ... Batman can depress the hell out his opponent, Wonder Woman can make hers tell the truth ... Flash can stand there and vibrate his molecules to his hearts content.
The movies don't count. might as well judge the Dead or Alive series by the DOA movie, if you're going that route. Or I guess Mario sucks as a game franchise because he was played by Bob Hoskins?
I'm no huge fan of the MK series... loved #1, enjoyed #2... lost interest with #3... but it is a "popular" fighting franchise, and as I said, it sort of makes sense to do this rather than come out with a straight up "DCU" fighter.
All of the DCU heroes have faced goofier villains than the MK crop. It's obviously not going to feature "Fatalities" if the "T" rating is to be believed, so I don't think that's even an issue. Some splashy finishing moves, no doubt, but no spine-ripping. I don't really know why this is any more or less silly than Cable fighting against Mega Man, as long as the gameplay is solid.
And yeah... Yoda fighting in Soul Calibur is much, much sillier IMHO.

It's just so less 'Mortal' without the fatalities
Instead of FINISH HIM! , it's more like HIT HIM WITH A PIE! or CALL HIM A NAME!
Oh well.
The movies don't count, but they're funny.

The trailer was awful. This would have made a better SNES game.
I do have to say this.
The really worst part of this idea is MK vs DC.
It looks pretty good, otherwise. I also like the fighting mechanic, falling and fighting sounds neet. If this were the way a Green Lantern game were looking, I would be thrilled... but not against Lu Kang!!!
(Boon sounds like he knows jack-nothing about D.C.)

yeah, the trailer isn't helping assuage my fears at all.
Now, if superman is in this, does that mean that all of the other fighters have kryptonite laced boots and gloves? Not that cannon has ever been a concern in a licensed fighting game.
I do have to admit that Capcom vs. Marvel was an enjoyable 2D fighter in my experience, but I think Capcom has had a better track record with 2D fighters than the MK team have with 3D fighters.

I choose not to acknowledge its existence.
That way if it turns out to be good, I can be pleasantly surprised.

A Mortal Kombat game that isn't rated M is an automatic epic fail in my book.
