Hmm. Hmm, indeed. 7pm? That leaves plenty of time for gaming before or after. I'm in. Too bad this isn't outdoor, though.

Oh! I had so much the first time I would LOVE to go again, but Wordy and I are supposed to go to a fundraiser event at my school. I will talk to E and see if we can work something out.

I'm moving back to Toronto in the near future, but if it happens that the move is later rather than earlier, this is definitely something I'd be in for. Should know more next week.

Just gauging more interests. I am going to buy my ticket tonight, I think.

I know of a good bar with good German beer not, too far south in Lincoln Park near DePaul called Probst.

Chicago? Anyone? Buehller?

smythe and E Hunnie said they have the fundraiser thing but could possibly show up for whatever is going on before or after their thing is done. I'll have to see what Stryker and Grenn are thinking. Any word for Rockford, wanderer, or kaos?

My previous attempt to see Coulton did not turn out too well for me, and this date doesn't look promising. The girlfriend will have just moved back from school that week and I'm thinking I may have to work that weekend.

You know as much as I love Coulton and Paul and Storm (I bought both groups full catalogs). Until either come out with a new album I think I'm holding off on seeing them again.

I had been thinking about going though before I saw this thread. But, I just think I'll have to hit it up next time. Plus, we have the MS walk the next morning bright and early.

I'm totally down with some other ideas for Chicago S&T at some other date though.

The southern Illinois troupe is going to pass on this one. Too bad this didn't work out. But let's not let this thread die. Do we want to plan something for May or June?

How about going to a board game bar? E Hunnie mentioned once that there are a couple somewhere in Chicago. I've never heard of them, but if we want to play something with a thick rule book then that's an option.

Memorial Day Weekend might be cool... That is May 23-26. I bet there could be BBQing and drinking here.

Other than that, anytime after June 13 would be fantastic! (Woo summer break!)

I will back in small town Indiana for a wedding Memorial Weekend. But if it works for everyone else, go for it.

I like the board game bar idea. I should probably play Settlers more then the one time I have.

Updated the title to encourage ideation.

Kolbo!

Erik and I were eating at Rock Bottom yesterday before we went to see a movie, and you walked right by our window! We would have run out to say hi (because we are like that), but the construction made it nearly impossible. So now I am telling you about it! Wooo!!!

Also the name of the board game bar E and I met at was called Guthries and it is in Wrigleyville. Centerstage also did an article (link!) on board game bars in Chicago; we could check out one of those. Someone should probably check out the games in advance in case byog is necessary. (A simple phone call should take care of that.)

That's hilarious. You should have said howdy. If it was 730 I would have stopped in and had a beer with you both.

I was downtown to be an aged 18-24 year guinea pig for a marketing campaign for a new video game. I had to sign a two year NDA so I can't really say what it is.

Back when the Bears were actually good. GO COLTS!!!!

Through my ultimate team. 2 hours of talking about my reaction to ad campaign storyboards and $100 in cash in hand after I was done.

It was for 18-24 year olds. I could have sworn you mentioned you were like 26 so I didn't give you a holler. I thought about it, really.

Heck yes, son.

Are we up for Memorial Day weekend, then? Can we pick a day in specific, so that I can (*gasp*) plan for it?

Since we'll be drinking, I propose not Monday. Does Saturday sound good for people?

Kolbo: The Chicago Ultimate Spring Leage tourney is the week before, if you're in the league. Also, have you thought about summer league yet?

I checked out the Center Stage article. My favored pick was Darwin's because they had the largest beer selection. It's closed now and the new place doesn't have board games. Though they have a screen dedicated to GH.

My second pick was Blue Frog. Especially if we go Saturday and stay until karaoke! Guthrie's could be good too, but the games mentioned didn't appeal to me. However, with all three I would assume we'd want to bring our own games. Assuming we can do so. And as long as why we're buying drinks, why would it matter that we brought stuff in?

Are board games at a bar an idea worth continued discussion? Would sometime Memorial Day weekend work for this? My niece's 5th birthday party is that Monday, but other than that I'm fine. While it would mean missing karaoke, Sunday afternoon into the evening would be best for me. Saturday night can be difficult because I have to be back down here in the morning.

Sunday looks best for me as well. If we can't find anything else, I'd be happy to just grill at my place. Also, the patio table is done enough that we can use it for any games that won't blow away (and yes, that does mean we can play beer pong).

Anyone else? How's Sunday? I would like to check out one of the bars, but it is Memorial Day weekend, so grilling would be appropriate. How about game @ smythe's, then grill for dinner, then head out to a bar for more games?

Hmm... Sunday night would be workable if I don't go out to the lake. I'll prolly go to the lake tho. I'm up for # 5 as a nice reality-appetizer before the GenCon meal.

See? Beer pong at Smythe's. That's sooo much better than my newly acquired Risk: Black Ops Special Secret Edition. Now I don't feel guilty.

Also, to salt the wound, I will be in Chicago next weekend, but spending every waking moment going to wedding related appointments. The most I'll get is maybe a whiff of Smythe's grilling as I drive around. Torture!

Damn. I didn't click around the 'Everything Else' forum for a couple weeks and didn't realize these Chicago events being planned. Mabye PM next time

I unfortunately will be headed back home to Southern Indiana for a wedding and will be gone all Memorial weekend. I think grilling needs to happen again beyond Memorial weekend again. Bummed I can't make it.

Wordy - I was at the Spring League tourney Saturday and didn't remember to drop you a message on here until that morning which I figured would be worthless.

I'll PM you about Summer League.

You all can add me as a maybe to GenCon as well. I will be south of Indy at my family's lake that weekend and week prior. Could swing by and crash with my friends in Indy or something.

I plan on continuing to host Weber/game parties every month or so until Columbus Day, guys. No need to lose sleep over missed meat.

For those who live in the area, I recommend looking at the festival schedule for Chicago. (Don't forget Pierogi Fest in Whiting, IN!) There are at least a couple fests that I'm close enough to host as staging area for.
