Hey guys,
having never played in an online league, how do these games work?
Do you have to meet in the league lobby room and then launch from there?
Is there anything out of the ordinary I should know?

Just schedule a time and you both get together and meet in the league's lobby. So if (on the game) you go into a path like this - XBox Live -> Leagues -> My Leagues -> GWJ... you will see various options for our league. You can look at the schedule. You can see stats. You can see the standings. And, you can go into a lobby similar to the lobby for playing games against pubbies. So basically you show up here, your opponent shows up here. One of you challenges the other and you're off.

ertic -- if you're having any troubles, get your opponent on a private chat, and you can both walk through the steps together.

Looks like I get to take on the regular season behemoth in the first week. Sixteen straight regular season victories for RuthlessMuffin. I think it is about time to put an end to this nonsense, don't ya think? After we play, he will have to change his name to MiniMuffin.

I don't know why DS wanted to start his season with a loss but he planned it. When will work for you DSGamer? I'm pretty free for the next week as girlfriend is out of town, only time that won't work is mid-day Saturday.

I didn't plan the whole season out. I just made sure certain rivalries were maintained. I am scared of your team. Maybe subconsciously I wanted to get it out of the way early.
Anyway, I liked the idea of an epic Jayhawker/Ruthless D vs. O rematch to start the season. The drama of that game and then if they revisit later during the playoffs they might be like totally different teams by then...
I can play all day Saturday until the evening. I can play off and on Sunday. I could play possibly tonight (not sure how late you're up) or maybe Friday night.

Jayhawker i'm free anytime you want to play. I would rather lose one now in the season then in the playoffs like i have done in the past couple of season.
DSGamer, all those times sound good to me too. Tonight be a little iffy though as I get alot of weekly phone calls on Thursday night. But lets try to get to it tonight. I should be on my 360 a lot as I'll be practicing APF.

I tried to get on last night, Ruthless, but my daughter had a friend over and was playing on the Wii all evening. Once my wife had relinquished the TV later, you had just gotten offline. So you live to fight another day...
Tonight and this weekend may be hard to get a game in, as we have friends in from out of town, plus lots of other stuff going on. It may be Sunday night or Monday before I can be sure I will have some time in the evening.

Great game, Ruthless. It was the Big Lack of Defense Bowl. The difference in the game was Ruthless held me to FGs twice. I, on the other hand, failed to stop him from scoring a touchdown, EVER. Ugh! Firebirds take down the Gunslingers 49-39.
It was pretty clear that I was going to need a turnover to win the game. Here's the key stat, though. I had 3 pass deflections for the game. Ruthless deflected THIRTEEN of my passes. That was a problem.
So now I am ready to forget week one, and bring on week two!

Taking control of those players out in the flat was the difference here I think.

Well, Elliot and I just got done playing a great game. Either his offense is to be feared or my defense is to be anticipated with glee. It really came down to one interception by Willie Wood and who had the ball last. I think we had one stop each. No punts.
Oh, and he had the first kickoff return for a TD, something I though Willie Wood was surely going to be the first to accomplish. Great game. I hope your offense really is that good. Otherwise I'm in trouble in the future.

Frankie and I just finished our game. He scored on the first drive, dominating my defense. His next score wasn't until garbage time as my defense stepped up after the first drive, forcing Steve Young into 5 interceptions. Ronnie Lott had 3 himself.
My offense was productive, with Earl Campbell gaining 107 yards on 18 carries, in addition to 48 yards receiving. Cunningham threw for 3 TDs and 1 INT on a night when he completed 11 of 14 attempts.
Final score:

Good that you tried to run the ball with those 2 rushing attempts (3 if you count Otto Graham's scramble...).
Wow, looking at the totals, did anyone draft defensive players? In the four games played, there appear to have been 3 punts. Glad that I didn't draft Ray Guy!

Yeah. Especially in a week where every other quarterback (even on the losing teams) has had good games so far.
Yeah. Like I said. Either Elliot has an offense to be feared or else I'm going to be in a lot of shootouts. I'm not sure which.

Seriously, though, I can't run with Barry Foster. Okoye was stolen from me and now I'm forced to bomb away. Forced, I tell you.
I drafted quite a few. They just didn't do jack. I have two excellent defensive ends, but Elliot plays such a tremendous short passing offense that they never touched him. Ken Norton Jr. was neutralized, effectively also.
