Eight (Blissful) Years

Today's my 8th wedding anniversary! I know, I know,... April 1st,... April Fools Day. But consider the following;

My first date with my wife was on St. Patrick's Day.
I proposed to my wife on Friday the thirteenth.
We got married in the year 2000 so I don't need L33t M4th Ski77z to figure out how long I've been married.
It was only natural that we should be married on April Fools Day.

Eight blissful years. I'm amazed she's stuck with me that long.

Congratulations and best (continued) wishes.

Our wedding happened to fall on Sweetest Day, and our anniversary hits it periodically. Not a big deal as long as you don't want to eat out, get flowers, stay in a hotel or any of that other mushy crap.

I think I'd rather have April Fool's day. It sounds cool.

The one fantastic thing about the date is that I'll never forget! I'll never pull a Fred Flinstone.

Oddly enough, my father and stepmother married today as well. It's a great idea - wish I could steal it.

My parents married on 420, without realizing the modern culture symbolism of that date.

I personally do not subscribe to the concept of marriage. Two people should stay together only as long as they are happy. No reason to get lawyers involved.

But if you two are happy, then I say congrats! I have been with the same woman for a while now, we will observe 12 years together this summer.

EDIT: Well, that was broken. It is a marry-ja-wah-na reference. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/420_(cannabis_culture)

Actually, one of the real advantages of marriage is not to need lawyers in many cases. Survivorship, insurance, etc. all just sort of work when you're married, but require some legal wrangling if you're not. Thus the whole civil union/marriage/contract dilemma.

If you can get buy without it, more power to you.

The reference to lawyers was about divorcing, not legal issues encountered when still in a relationship. But I see what you mean.

Ah. I was wondering where you needed a lawyer to get married these days ... ignore the whooshing sound over my head.

Congrats! Sometimes dates are dates and numbers are just numbers.
But it's great to know you have someone in your life that turned out
to stay with you that long and probably longer
August this year I'll be married for seven years... just doesn't feel like
it though. And I am sure I have seen her only max 6 years out of those
seven lol. (Navy)

I have two jobs so I'm in the same boat (not the Navy boat, I mean,... you know). I just recently staffed the store up a little so I can spend more time at home. This is making the wife much happier! Wife happy = me happy.

You'll also note that I forgot to put my eye patch on that day as I was somewhat rushed.
