Just keeping a nice, tidy list to see how many Goodjers plan on playing AoC on or around launch day. I'm assuming we'll try to wrassle up some sort of guild of ruffians to pillage the countryside when the game hits. To keep up to date on other AoC goodness, check out the rolling AoC: New Goodies thread here at GWJ.

I'm a confirmed barbarian + 5 of my RL veteran MMO friends who tend to haunt this site, but almost never bother to post are in.

I'm definitely in and my brother will also be joining. Not sure how many others from my WoW guild will jump ship to play.

Awesome. I'm not sure how we should work that, there might be a couple hop overs from my WoW guild as well, but I don't want to ruin the GWJ vibe, I'd like it to be an official GWJ guild so to speak. Any ideas on that?

I'm down for keeping the GWJ vibe. The guys from my WoW guild are pretty much like everyone here for the most part anyway so it's no big deal. They all know that i've been waiting for the game to come out to start heavy MMO'ing again so if they swap they wont care where they start.

When I was pickinng my new computer; I made sure that it would be able to run this. So definatly

"Steel is weak, boy, Flesh is stronger."

Now the question of what type of server are the majority of gwjers leaning towards, it would be nice to coordinate.

As it stands now they dont allow players over 20 to come into the starting zone on pvp servers after that i believe it's ffa pvp outside of the cities. Still the PvE servers have zones in them after level 20 where it's FFA pvp too so no matter which way we go it wont always be milk/honey. They've also not finalized a pvp ruleset yet so who knows what it'll be.

From most of the discussions here though i'd say the consensus will be to go to a PvE server. If it comes to a vote i vote for a pvp server. I'll be happy on a PvE just as well though.

Count me in as well, especially if we can coordinate our efforts to get a GWJ collective going.

As of right now Count me on the fence.

I am waiting a bit longer to make up my mind.

I really want to play on a PVP server.

Yeah I also want a PvP server. Played PvE WoW for a couple years before I switched, and I wished I had done so from the start. But it all depends how it's handled..

I have preordered. I plan to give this a try.

I'd lean to PvP. I mean, it *is* Conan.

Yea im kinda up in the air about the PvP vs PvE. I guess im just a little scared about people being complete asshats and making war parties which stand outside of towns and gank you as soon as you leave, a la Ultima online.

It just seems that some people have way to much time on thier hands and will grind to max level before anyone else and then just grief all of us who are slower.

I'm in. Pre-ordered last month. Not sure what I'll be rolling first but a Guardian is likely. I may be dragging a few WoW guildmates with me, not sure though.

I'm in as well, will be preordering sometime in the next few days. I could go either way on PvE or PvP, although in general I tend to lean towards PvP. I also may have an RL friend or two joining me.

I have pre-ordered and will be bringing at least one co-worker with me (the 3 WOW players may be soon to follow).

I know the co-worker and I were leaning toward a PvP Server, but again it'll depend on the rules that Funcom puts in place regarding world PvP.

Edit: Also, according to the post right above this one, my cousin and a couple of his rl friends might also be coming.

Count me in, I am pre-ordered and leaning toward the Necromancer or Demonologist. I had a chance to play AoC at Dragoncon last year and I am hooked on the PvP already. I have 3 or 4 other friends that will probably be looking for a home after launch as well.

My wife and I have this preordered. I doubt my better half would be down for a PvP server though. So if theres a GWJ on a PvE server, we're all over it.

I also know a few WoW GWJ Horde people on Baelgun that will be testing this out as well.

If in a month or two you guys are still playing I'll think about jumping in.

I think we'll have enough peeps online to alleviate the PvP problems that plague those without affiliation.

Yeah it seems the only issue is what server, PvP vs PvE for the Goodjers to hang out on. I know from experience the split between GWJ Alliance and GWJ Horde disjointed things quite a bit, so if we could all convene in the same location it would probably help a lot more.

Who knows though? Maybe try out PvP, and if it turns out to be an unavoidable gank fest, move to a designated PvE server? I guess when the time comes we can make that decision.

I am with Hanta on this. While PvP doesn't intimidate me, I simply don't want to waste my more limited time on trying to avoid griefers, especially if there's no limitation to how they can accomplish it.

Not to mention the fact that if I am going to last as an AoC player, it will be because my wife also enjoys the game, and I can assure you that she won't if she can't play without some wanker ganking her.

I am willing to give PvP servers a shot, though, as it would add an element of variability that PvE servers won't have.

Really? I did the opposite. Started on a PvP server for WoW and when I then later played on a PvE one I felt the only difference was griefing that could be hugely painful on the PvP server I was on because of huge population imbalance.

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of PvP but I think it all goes out the window when motivation of involvement and population are skewed it gets ugly.

Probably best to wait for clear indication of the rule sets. The huge sticking point for me in WoW was coming to the realization that the only thing PvP server meant was griefing on and if your side has lower numbers bend over.

Hm... I suppose being married for almost 15 years to me would indicate that she's quite well equipped to dealing with idiots. AoC should feel like a breeze to her, therefore.

Well the first 20 levels can be played solo so you can avoid ganking on the PvP server up until then. So if it seems the consensus goes towards a PvP server, I'll give it a try.

But its not like there won't be massive world PvP on a PvE server. It will just be a more of a chance to opt out of being ganked.

So I'm in and I prefer a PvE server.

I'd have to offer up my vote for PvE. I'm all for PvP when I feel in the mood to PvP. When I'm not in the mood for it then it's just an opportunity for strangers to waste my time. I'm fairly certain there will still be PvP opportunities on the PvE servers won't there?

Yea, they have said that there are still going to be open pvp zones, as well as the usual battle ground stuff that they were planning.

Also if you want, your guild can make a city in the borderlands, which opens it up to attack.

They may also take the wow method of having a pvp flag. Untill they release the pvp rule set, however, it is all speculation.

20 levels is alot to start over, if, when you finish and enter the world and get hunted down by a raiding party continuously. See in wow, there were factions, so basically spreading out the a-holes between 2 sides. In this there will be no such buffer, and everyone will get a full helping of a-hole.
