WoW BHA Raids - Apr.1 - 7

Hey all,
Due to the patch, we had a bit of a false start on the raiding this week. We got some done, but a little less then our typical week. I'd like to try the static raiding again, since people are getting back into the groove, and hopefully we can get some stuff going

The following nights, we'll see about getting some static Kara, ZA and Gruul's runs going. If there is interest in participating, show up approximately a 1/2 hour BEFORE the scheduled times to be considered. I've also posted what is needed to truly succeed on a recommended basis. Exceptions can occur, but the closer to the makeup, the better chance of success. In the case that two or more equal toons both want the same spot, I'd suggest a roll-off to determine the spot, and the lost roll(s) to be considered on a following raid (in an attempt to keep things fair).

Example: Three hunters roll off, and one does not go on Raid #1, the third hunter should be considered for Raid #2, as they didn't get to go on the first shot. It's the rule of "you went on the last one, let me give it a shot"

Anyways, here's what I'm thinking:

Tuesday - Kara Group A, 7pm server start
Required/Recommended:
2 Tanks (preferably different types)
3 Healers (again, preference to different types)
1 - 2 Melee Dps (Rogue, Fury/Arms Warrior, Ret Pally, Enh Shaman)
3 - 4 Ranged Dps (Mage, Hunter, Warlock, Boomkin, SPriest, Ele Shaman)

Wednesday - ZA Group A, 7pm server start
*Edit: May occur Thursday if not enough demand on Wednesday*
Same makeup as Kara
2 Tanks - favors one to be Pally
3 Healers
1 -2 Melee Dps
3 - 4 Ranged Dps - favoring mage & warlock
*Fully Kara geared individuals should get priority above those still receiving upgrades in Kara

Friday - Kara Group A (continued), 7pm server start
*Continuation from first run, mostly the same individuals unless planning to take part in the following

Saturday - Kara Group B, 3pm(?) server start
*New Kara to occur, primarily for people not participating in the Tuesday/Friday run

Sunday - Gruul's Lair, 7pm server start
Required/Recommended:
4 Tanks
6 - 8 Healers
1+ Mage
1+ Warlock
3+ Hunters
13 - 15 Dps Total (mixed variety)

Alternate Sunday - ZA Group B, 7pm server start (if not enough available)
*Same makeup as Group A earlier in the week

Organization of the raids in question should be handled typically by the following individuals if they are present. If none are present, it should be handled by an officer with knowledge of the raid in question:

Shanker/Titanos
Krindle/Gloc
Azorius
Vilius

Please post questions and concerns. Any raid availability is nice, but will make no bearing on the raid that actually takes place.

NOTE: I remember a couple of people passed on spots for the ZA raid we did on Friday this past week. Special consideration should be given to them for an upcoming raid, unless it was given on the Saturday Kara run.

Basically this means that if there are two comparable players and one has this consideration, they should get the spot.

So, people for special consideration:
Lunazul
Adonfana

Thanks Luna! Edited my second post to show special consideration where it is due.

I always thought we were to show up for scheduled raids 1/2 hour before time. And, I prefer "scheduled raids" rather than the "show up" idea.

If this helps, as to when Maloratus plans to show up this week:

The only thing I need in Kara is The Sunfury Bow of the Phoenix4 off of Prince Malchezaar. Badges are nice and a full clear would be very sweet. Therefore, I will show up on Tuesday and Friday for Kara.

Unfortunately, Wednesday before 7:30 pm server will never work for me. I also work every Saturday from 4:15 - 6:30 pm server. Therefore a 3:00 pm Saturday run will never work.

See you Sunday for Gruul's Lair at 6:30 pm for the 7pm server start or the alternate Sunday - ZA Group B.

So my computer died today. As such, I'm offline for the forseeable future, as far as raids go. I have a laptop(posting from it now) for general purpose stuff, but it's not much good for WoW and such.

On the flip side, the Boss okay'd a new PC, provided I keep it fairly cheap. I'm gonna throw up a thread over in tech for some Goodjer input.(please help!)

edit - tech thread is here

Okay Im going to show up on Saturday with my studly new warrior tank, Dolzer

Im told I should fit in well for off-tanking duty. I'm going to be fleshing out the rest of my gear throughout the week. The main upgrades Im looking for is in the belt, ring, and trinket category. I have my eye on a few easy to get ones, but I'd like to browse loot lists for a good drop while I main-tank instances to further hone my skills Our Old Hillsbrad run yesterday could have gone more smoothly on my part. All those stuns and hamstrings are tough to deal with, but we got it done

Hey Dolgen, next time you get the chance, care to log Dolzer out in his tanking gear? Also, and this is just a suggestion, I highly recommend shifting points from Deep Wounds and Imp. Shield Wall to 3/3 Imp. Sunder Armor. The less rage your Devastate costs, the better you'll be able to generate threat on the target.

This will be the last Tuesday I'm unavailable for the next few months (until July), otherwise in the future I'll be able to help in Kara either with Gloc or with Krindle as needed (and for continuing to help train tanks). Hopefully Vilius, Azorius or Reap will be available tonight to take the reins?

As for Mal's unfortunately scheduling, I expect that we do want to set up multiple runs for that reason. Give everyone a shot by listing 2 Kara and 2 ZA runs each week, in the hopes that people will be able to make one of them. 25mans are a little unavoidable though, and likely Sunday will remain that day due to the overwhelming necessity to fill all the roles we need.

Here's hoping you get that bow

Not that I even know that I could sell the concept to Luna(bean) tonight, but if I did try to come along this evening, would I have to also be available for Friday as well?

Also, I don't generally get home from work until 6:30 PM server time (which is 4:30 M here in California) -- how big a problem is it to be showing up only 15 minutes before the start time?

I may cross the 12k/12k threshold in the next few days, probably based on whether I can get a couple of OH runs in or not. Will need a few enchants too, but hopefully it won't be too hard to find the right enchanters on. If I can swing it, I might try to be available Saturday just in case, but I guess it might not work out well if both Dozer and I were looking to try to join in. Unfortunately, Tuesdays just don't work for me right now.

BTW, I do try to log out in my tanking gear consistently, so if anyone wants to give me gear suggestions, feel free to shoot me a pm or such. Right now I'm targeting getting the Ogri'la Aegis and Timewarden's Leggings ASAP. Should put me over, even with just +9 STA gems.

zero - fifteen minutes early would be about 20 minutes ahead of a lot of people.

Although - with this new, "roster-less" method we're trying, punctuality will now be stongly rewarded. That's a good thing, I think.

I do not think there's a *requirement* to be able to run both nights. Hasn't been that way in the past.

No requirement to run, but definite incentive to show up punctual and be getting ready to run

I've heard mentionings that a good number of people are unable to run Wednesday. If a raid does not occur that day, we can attempt a ZA on the Thursday instead (still a different timer then the sunday).

I can do a wed ZA run if I'm needed for dps, and I'm really wanting to do gruul's again cause that was a blast and I think we can get him down this time.

Tuesday was a bust. A shortage of healers. Also the attempts we made to try and organize were a bit disjointed. Perhaps assigning a leader to coordinate the raid event for the evening? (Preferably someone with Kara experience in marking and pulls).

I should be on Friday night and would love to fire up a kara and/or ZA group since it didn't happen last night. ZA resets friday morning so it would be a fresh run. I would also really like to see some of the newer 70's in a kara run for at least the first few bosses.

I agree. I made an attempt to put something together, but a lack of experience with Kara encounters I was at a bit of a loss in optimizing the dps and balancing the classes. Either way the only healer on was Khush.

Possibly Friday we can put a full clear together?

I'm going to hypothesize that set days for raids are good, but lack of roster, not so good.

If there is a spot for me to fill, I'm definitely going to make my best effort to try to be available either Friday or Saturday for Kara. Any idea which night would be more likely so I can start figuring out how to sweet talk Luna(bean) out of an evening with me?

It's going to come down to healers more than anything else. I'll make myself available to help in Kara on the friday night (since saturday I have class until 5pm server, likely not home until 6pm). But honestly, without our healers, it's difficult to run anything this week

With Stormy on Vacation, and me down with no PC, It's likely that the week will be a bust all told. I hate to be the pessimist, but that just strikes me as the reality of the situation, unless some other folks spring out of the woodwork

I don't think the PUG(uildies) idea is a good one. It's too haphazard. It means people show up, ready to raid, hoping to raid, but then no raid happens because there aren't enough people, or the raid fails because the players aren't strong enough or the mix is wrong. A prior schedule makes sure enough people of the correct class mix have all committed to being available for the evening, and generally means that the raid will be successful.

As is, we have to show up and spend an evening online hoping that A) a raid might happen, and B) we'll get picked to go along. If either of those things doesn't occur, then that's an evening we could have spent doing something else. Everyone who showed up last night gave up their other options, and didn't get a raid out of it. I wasn't one of them, so I'm not personally upset, but I can certainly see where they'd be a bit miffed.

Sans schedules, I plan to just show up when I feel like playing solo anyway, so that I'm guaranteed an evening of at least doing what I was expecting to do. I'm not going to think about or plan for raiding. I'll try to stay equipped/supplied, so that if I do get tapped I'll be able to go with minimal delay, but I'm not personally willing to block out evenings in the hope that someone might put something together.

Edit to add: As further evidence... Not one of my half-done Karas has been finished if it wasn't pre-scheduled. Every single time we've said, "Let's see what happens on day X", what happened on day X was nothing.

If you guys think I might be able to make enough difference healing, I'll jump in to ensure ZA goes tomorrow night but I might not be able to show right at 7. I haven't been there yet but will try to read up on it tonight or tomorrow night.

Sunday night Gruul's is highly likely too, but yeah, with Stormy and Nev down, we may not have enough healers.

Can't really say how Friday or Saturday are looking for me yet (edit: to be clear, I'd still love to play in Kara plenty more with guildies, and Alaysha's up to uncrittable now in bear form but still needs practice and some general upgrading for other tanking stats before she's comfortable running Kara), depends on what plans I may or may not have with Alaysha or Fyedaddy, and I have a chemistry research project I need to start this weekend too though I prefer to work on homework in the mornings anyway.
