Who just started playing WoW? I did...
Thursday, March 20th, 2008 - 12:34am
Yeah, after years of declaring I'd NEVER play WoW EVER...a girl I was dating (who was hooked on it like the sweet crack it is) convinced me to try the trial about two months ago and...f*ck I'm hooked now. Seriously, this game is amazingly well done, and I can't stop freaking playing it. WoW was the first game I actually purchased in two years and has helped me come back into gaming...DAMNIT! ![]()
So far I'm really enjoying my Nelf Druid (feral spec) but I'm also enjoying my Nelf Priest (holy spec) and Tauren Shaman (too new to have a spec).
So yeah, I gave into the dark side...and I'm enjoying every moment of it.

It's even better if your playing with a great group of people. Guild chat, running instances, mats, enchants, pots, free gear, etc. etc.
Seriously Veloxi, the game quickly becomes all about the people who play it. You don't mention what server you are on, but you and the "girl you were dating" should look us up on Blackhand.
OK, the girl is optional if you've stopped dating.
-> Lent
Blackhand Alliance: Korduroi (70 Priest), Faustus (49 Warlock)
Blackhand Horde: Lent (70 Priest), Durok (61 Hunter)
Girlfriends to play WoW with are keepers!
Go Enhancement with your shaman, you won't regret it.

I also kept my distance from WoW for years... until my wife started playing. Now I am hooked as well.
The group we have on Blackhand is awesome. On any given night there is 25 - 40 of us online, and plenty of us are low level, or running alts. There is a wealth of knowledge to tap into, and plenty of people (including myself) who would gladly come back to an earlier area to help with quests.
Have fun!
Oh yeah, as Fed said, Enhancement Shaman is killer.

Yeah, those gamer chicks are dangerous
I'm with others that have said it, Blackhand Alliance is where we're really powering through right now (GWJ Alliance), and there is also a Horde side group on Baelgun last I heard (Blades of Vengence?).
Friends of mine just started playing a couple months ago - old roommate of mine and his girlfriend. The roommate wouldn't cave in, but the gf did, and now I have them both
mwa ha!

Lunazul - Rouge & GWJ Paparazzo
Merdee - Hunter
Lunarel - Druid
Strange. I also started playing a while ago (January), but 2 months later I got fed up. In the beggining it was cool, lots of stuff to do, but damn, it takes a lot of time to really start things going. Like moving between places, waiting for party members...
I admit that once things start clicking is one hell of an experience. But all the time spent in overhead stuff just doesn't make it worthwhile to me. Maybe if I had more time to kill I could find it more enjoyable.
As it stands, I find it as a game that takes too long to get to the good stuff.
But great game nevertheless. Good polish. Textbook Blizzard.
Yeah, I also started up back in January, and I'm just as hooked. Of course, I'm trying my hardest to PREVENT my wife from picking it up, because it will be the absolute death of our social life if she does.

ONE OF US, Luna, ONE OF US.
It's pretty sad that getting my girlfriend to play WoW is probably my most wanted fantasy.

So far I've been playing on Kael'Thas, but I'll roll a toon on Blackhand and join y'all.
A WoW threesome...just, please, tell me the roommate's a girl too.

BTW, are y'all alliance or hordies?
Blackhand - Alliance
Guild name - GWJ Alliance
Baelgun - Horde
Guild name - Blades of Vengence (right?)
as stated in an above stickied thread, find someone from the guild, and ask to speak to an officer. When you talk to them, let them know you are "Veloxi from the forums", and an invite should be heading your way

Nope, GWJ Horde I believe.

I started up an orc rogue on the server where my friend plays (kiljaeden). Its fun and I just hit 32 so woohoo!

BoV does have some GWJers in it, but we do also have a smaller GWJ Horde guild. There's been a little bit of activity lately with Bean and crew coming over to join us. Check the Small Horde presence on Baelgun thread for more info.
Skriss: lvl 70 undead mage - Bloodhoof
Kyrator: lvl 63 night elf rogue - Blackhand
Thadryn: lvl 70 draenei mage - Blackhand
The man speaks the truth. We dont have the numbers alliance side has (20-40+ a night), but we're trying. If you find yourself enjoying horde more than alliance (thats my mental block, I simply cant level an alliance past 20, its like a curse), start a character up on BAELGUN and we'll get you an invite.

I'm new as well. I promised for years I'd never touch WoW. Didn't want to , didn't care to play it - and wasn't going to play it.
But Stormspain kept pestering me about it off and on (for about 2 years too - I'll give him that), that I finally gave the 10 day trial a look see.
... and it's fun. So I cancelled my accounts on DAoC and am on WoW presently.

Sweet, I hope y'all have room for a Nelf Druid in yer gang.
Ah, sweet World of Warcrack. I stopped playing the game several times due to the lack of a good guild. At face value, it is a stable, polished and well-crafted game. Of course there are flaws but what Copingsaw said earlier is true. The real fun is running the game with a good group of people.

Enjoy the Honeymoon phase, it's the best and it's hard to get that initial feeling back.
Also, don't forget your other games! Never! Make sure to set some time aside for them.. and enjoy the company of all the Goodgers, like everyone said, that's the best way to get satisfaction out of the experience.

What Swat says about enjoying your other games is true - I think I enjoy my WoW experience more when it's not the only game I play.

Oh I still play other games besides WoW. Lately it's been a lot of Freespace 2, Tie Fighter and Jumpgate with some Star Wolves mixed in for good measure.
I tried loading up Freespace2 a couple weeks back. I had a blast playing that years back, but I never managed to finish it, so I figured I'd load it up and give it a go.
Then Sins of a Solar Empire came out.
I haven't even had much time for WoW lately.
IronClad Online: PurEvil
I've heard Sins of a Solar Empire is good but I'm waiting for a price drop. I try never to pay full price for anything anymore, as doing so lead me to near backruptcy several times.
There is a Sins demo out now Veloxi.
Heretic! Dark Age of Camelot 4 lyfe!
Yet even then we ran like the wind,
whilst our laughter echoed under cerulean skies...
I am installing it now. Its been 2 years since I last played. Looking to join the GWJ guild.
I have never played, but a friend has also been pestering me to join... I have to admit that I have some negative preconceptions about it, but today might be the day I take the step onto the dark side.
