Austin Slap & Tickle Presents: The Goodjer Compound

It's high time we rocked again, my friends. Greatness requires planning, though. I've got some questions for potential attendees:

#1 - The date is Saturday, July 12th. If you have any overwhelming objections, please voice them soon, it's almost set in stone.

#2 - Non-music game. Last time we had Halo 3. I believe Halo 3 mania has petered out. Any recommendations for another multiplayer game? It needs to be on the 360. Four player split screen games will probably be best, but I'd luuurv me some GTA IV. Ideas?

#3 - We need a coordinate effort to get Bill Harris of Dubious Quality fame to attend. I suggest that if you have email him semi-often at his blog, just send him a polite email that you'd love to meet him at the party. I bet the waves of happiness will lure him out No need to bug him if you haven't spoken to him before, though, we don't want to bug the guy.

#4 - Other insanely great requests or ideas?

Please get the time off work, reserve the plane ticket, and come. All goodjers are welcome, all are invited.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Stage 2

How cool is this? Right at the time of the party, I will be the brand new owner of a 5 bedroom, 3 bath house - a home within walking distance of the party location and full of empty rooms and plenty of space for people to sleep. Four whole couples can have their own rooms, possibly 5, and we can squeeze single men in the front room (or closets, bring your own pillow of heterosexuality). It's totally free, no more hotel bill, the food bills will be cheap, and you'll get 300% more time to hang out with your fellow goodjers.

Punch and pie.

Stage 3

The After Party

Starting in the back row, left to right: edwin, yoyoson, johnnymojo (back row), rolanberry, danjo, lunabean, grumpicus (back row), zeroKFE, souldaddy, clover, Bill Harris, mahinae, chiggie, pharacon. Front Row: Sigsbee, Fedaykin, Devmani, Louie

Missing are kilgore trout and Hemidal and his beautiful wife and child

We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.

I'm looking at Southwest flights right now. It's looking like it'll cost around $750 for two of us round trip. That's a little more than I was hoping to spend so we're going to think about it and try to fit it into the budget.

To those looking at airfare, remember that the best prices are generally available if you buy between Tuesday and Thursday. Flying on those days (as opposed to the big business-travel days of Sun/Mon and Fri) will also potentially save you a few bucks.

That's pretty expensive, I wouldn't ask you to spend that much to see little ol' me.

Airfare tends to be really expensive so far in advance. If you want to come, I suggest arranging the time off from work and watching the intertubes. The best prices would probably come around mid april, early may? 7 weeks out is the best time I believe.

If you make a weekend of it, you won't be disappointed. Danjo, Scaph and I played Guitar Hero on the best setup ever for 5 days straight. I've got a four day weekend that weekend, so I'll be around to hang with anyone who comes long distance.

We shall grapple with the ineffable, and see if we may not eff it after all.

I'm in, now with added family! Short round and my wife will be there this time. So, it's probably not going to be a 3:00 AM party for me this go round.

I'm going to have to finagle some classes to make sure first, but I should be able to make it -- so long as I get to be Lenin.

This is a possibility, however gas money may necessitate the persuading of the posse. Results may vary depending upon drunkenness level.

We've got 2 parties around SXSW (March, ie, tonight) and around ACL (August). We've also got another big one near Halloween. These are getting bigger, so I can predict plenty through 2010.

See? See? These guys have the right idea.

We have to put together something decent likes these guys. I believe we have one of the larger collection of GWJ'ers all living in the NC area and we can't bring us together like a cohesive unit like these guys for a decent Slap n' Tickle, we should hang our heads in shame.

Awesome. My birthday always falls during SXSW (11th), can't wait for that to be part of my annual birthday fun.

Austin is the most recent destination for the main low-cost airline here, I can get a round flight on that date for around $120. Need to check some things first but I would be happy to join.

Love to have you come, boysetsfire.

You know, your screen name is hard to think of a nickname for. "Boyfire"? "Boy"?

I want to make it, but I'm not sure where I'll be launching from yet, so I'm reluctant to make travel plans until things settle down a bit.

I'm sure I'll be able to make at least the earlier hours. I hesitate to expose more of Goodgerdom to the Grumplings, even though they Rock. They have been practicing their vocal stylings at home, so July may be just right for their next public performance.

I demand tenderloin this time.

Yeah I know, I should have thought of that before choosing some emocore band's name for a nick. I always use bsf for short, I just hope it doesn't have a pun of some kind.

Last year's summer I went to Austin for a couple a days before going to see Rush on SA, I really liked it but just got a chance to visit the Capitolium (is it correct?) and wander on the 6th St. on both nights.

Side note. This party is 2 days before my birthday and 4 days after Grumps so remember to bring toys. ( Fisto from he-man is always a hoot.)
