WoW BHA: Wanted--A Little Love for Our Raid Leaders

Intern

I know this post will have most of you groaning about its redundancy and cheesiness, but I really don't think a lot of folks understand the amount of effort that goes into putting a raid together. Time, thought, preplanning, etc.

Our raid leaders spend hours reading up on strategies, composition, and placement in order to make our raids successful. When something goes wrong, they don't blame, they start trying to fix the problem and make it better. They are willing to try new ways of tackling a boss, different run orders, helping folks get specific equipment, and even sub out to see if a special drop happens. Phew! I'm just tired typing the work they do.

Krindle has even a tougher job. He gets to hear and try to accommodate everyone's individual wishes. I think Santa might have an easier job. Heck, he at least has elves and only has to do it once a year.

So in short, show our raid leaders a little love. They aren't getting paid to do this job, but they are trying to do it to the best of their ability.

/end cheese.

When all is said and done, well then you're just done. Duh!

Hey, Krindle gets paid to do the Raid Schedule job, even if his employers aren't aware of it. /duck

In all seriousness, well said. Speaking of planning and strategizing... I got some thoughts on Jan'alai on our next attempt to get deeper that I should toss around in another post.

Thanks guys
I figure I'd have to come on and defend my schedule a bit more and goals for the next few weeks, instead I see this and get put in an awesome mood!

Looking at Jan'Alai, I think we were on the right track, but might have to devote a couple of dps that can stun/root/slow/cripple to focus on any scouts that keep coming. We might want to try the front path next time so we can see them coming head on istead of them coming from behind like that last shot that did us in. I don't think the scouts ever end, so it is a matter of just pacing and dealing with them after each pull.

I tried to say this in the other post; scheduling that many people is difficult, and takes an assload of work. And it's rare that everyone's fully happy, because it's all about compromises. So you end up with a bunch of moderately disgruntled people most of the time. When all he gets is complaints, he'll burn out... he's volunteering, and nobody wants to get abused for a volunteer job.

This is a good idea, with the stipulation that he has to wait until the END of a raid to get his drink on.

Speaking as one who has experienced the difficulties of scheduling a raid, I fully endorse this thread.

Perhaps we should think about scheduling an 'all drunk' run one night?

This one too. Actually the last time we did one of these, it was in heroic Slave Pens. Tador doesn't even remember zoning in, and passed out by the first boss. And for a heroic 5man, I thought it was strange we had somewhere around 15 ppl in the vent channel, and there was a whole lot o' slurrying.

I can think of two guildies that I'm pretty sure I haven't run with while they were sober. And before someone yells "Pot...Kettle....Black", I stopped drunk-WoWing back when I had, in a one-week period:

a. The Shadow Lab (or maybe it was Mana Tombs) run with Krindle, where I walked into a safe corner to pass-out for 30 minutes. I came back (came to) just before they booted me.

b. I logged in on a Saturday morning, to find my character dead in BF...and couldn't remember even logging into WoW Friday night. After finding the guildies I ran with, and apologizing profusely, it turns out I'm a mellow WoW-drunk.

It was heroic Arcatraz actually and we were at about 3 trash mobs before the last boss. I still can't believe we saved Millhouse. We were just about to get you replaced too, you came back just in time.

Although, about 2 months prior there was a Heroic ManaTombs where you did the corner thing and actually auto-d/c'd. I think we went through 10 guildies in total that night for that run. (it was a looooong night as Jut and Crazy will remember).

Good Times!

Well for my two cents i think our raid leaders have gone above and beyond in helping me better my game .. As for the drunk run well i will just be degisinated mostly sober person as i generally do not drink (in fact i have been told by multiple doctors to drink more oddly enough )

One thing I particularly appreciate is the patient, clear instructions on each of the fights. Everyone's very good at explaining what to do and what not to do. We've been doing very well beating Kara bosses while fielding lots of newbies, and I bet the good instructions, both before and during the fights, are a lot of the reason it's been working.

Tonight's tracking on the Netherspite fight was particularly good; I was really impressed at how well Az remembered exactly who was supposed to be where. I'm just trying to track whether I'm red or green this round, and he's doing that and four people for the blue beam all at once. I think Hanta was doing it too... and he's healing like a madman as well.

Thanks Zel - remembering all those assignments nearly asploded my brain. You are quite right to priase Hanta as well; his Netherspite strategy has taken that lizard from GWJ's most hated to farm status imho. Hanta has repeatedly been a source of the best tactics for any encounter, be it Netherspite or Heroic Ramps. Thanks, H!
