On a more serious note, I think, if I read correctly, that they may not have finished filming Dark Knight. If so, I seriously wonder how they're going to address that if he hadn't finished all of his scenes.
Additionally, he's got kids, so I feel REALLY badly for them now.

Man, this came out of no where. I can't recall ever hearing anything of him having issues with drugs and/or alcohol.. though I guess that doesn't mean much. Wow. I feel for his family and it's a shame as his career was just starting to take off.

If that's true then it's even more sad. He played a heroin addict in a recent movie called "Candy" and actually checked himself into a rehab clinic so he could talk to and be around heroin addicts for the role. Guess he got a little too deep into that role.

Took me by surprise as well. Not to sound heartless, cause I do feel for his family, but I was looking forward to his portrayal of the Joker.

I feel guilty for thinking the same way, and I had hopes for sequels, etc... The only movie I think I ever saw him in though was Brokeback Mountain, which I loved (to the amusement of my friends). So I always thought he was a really great actor.

IMDB lists the movie as in "post-production" so assuming it's accurate then the principal photography should have been wrapped up. They may end up doing a few scenes a la Brandon Lee in "The Crow" and use CGI if they need to, but I would imagine we're still going to see him as The Joker.

Well that's sad. I know it will be painted another way but I hope this is a wakeup call to other young celebs who partake in the "lifestyle".

Hmmm....is there some sort of "regular" stipulation in their contracts that if something untoward were to happen to an actor during filming a movie, that their likeness can still be used? Not being a smart-ass, I genuinely don't know. I had heard that in Brandon Lee's case, that his family allowed the company to do so in the Crow.
