Jan 14th to 18th
With Elysium trundling home from Alabama, it's up to me to seize the reins once more and steer us all to a better place. Sadly, that better place is next week when we finally start seeing some real games like Burnout Paradise and No More Heroes. Following in Elysium's footsteps, I will instead pick a completely biased Game of The Week which is in fact not a game at all. The Nostromo N52 has seen me through hundreds of hours gaming. From World of Warcraft to Crysis, the mini-keyboard is easy to configure and affords you the versatility of sitting it on your knee rather than on your desk. It feels less like working that way. The latest N52te comes out this week and offers a backlight along with some improved buttons. It ships on the 15th for $69.99.
This week on DVD we have Good Luck Chuck, Family Guy Blue Harvest and not much else.

Will the N52te make me a better TF2 player? I bought a $40 mouse pad and it almost made me a better TF2 player. Maybe I should just cut out the middle man and pay a professional fps gamer to play TF2 for me.

On a related note, my fiance says I'm a dork because I bought the Saitek version and she's probably right. But if it helps to stave off carpal tunnel syndrome for an extra year, it's worth it.

I have been using a speedpad for a few years now, (I am on my third one, 2nd generation) i absolutely would recommend it as an excellent gaming tool...If just alone for putting WASD on the thumb control.
I'm interested in the new N52, but I worry a bit. Pretty recently there was an awesome sale on Newegg for the older one ($9.99) and I got one.
I like the concept.. but hate the actual keyboard style keys on it. The orange thumb button is particularly useless. It's so stiff it barely works at all, much less with a quick press from my thumb.
If the impressions of the new one say it's got a much softer feel to it I'm in.

I write for another site called NotAddicted, that's currently in the throes of "backend upgrade". I wrote a lengthy "review" of the n52 a while back, showing how I used it for WoW.

I don't use the thumbpad for WASD, I use the main block of buttons as WASD with 1-9 wrapped around it. Read the review if you're curious just what the device itself is, and how it works.
I don't forsee picking up the n52te, because it looks just like the n52 with a different d-pad, and fancy blue LEDs. The n52 itself is crucial, though, in my day to day gaming.

Did anyone pick up No More Heroes yesterday? I couldn't find it anywhere. Heck, I couldn't find an online retailer in Canada that had it listed!
