WI-IL Check-in

For some reason when I heard about the twisters that went through the area last night, my first thought was weather SommerMatt is OK. (To be honest, my second thought was for the safety of the drive-up A&W off of I-94.) All you Wiscos and hinterlanders still have houses and jobs?

A Freudian slip?
Yeah, I'm OK... it was a bit dicey last night, as the tornados went through Racine and Kenosha county... but I had no damage.
One of the women I work with had some damage to her house... most of the "hulk smash" damage was in Kenosha.

I did see lightning strike a field on the way home. But other than being soaked in torrential downpour, I was fine.
Well, the storm last night caused a power problem with the train, which actually caught fire this morning, making me an hour late. We had to move to a front car while the firemen declared it safe and the conductors disconnected the last two cars. Pretty annoying.

I posted before work for you. Be grateful.
We had lightning all over last night, but I didn't realize until later this morning that the Kankakee Kontingent was getting washed out last night. I was nice and dry, some 60 feet above street level.

I'm in Madison so all I got was a ton of thick, thick fog. They had to close I-90 by Madison down, though, two days ago because of a 70+ car pileup due to the fog. God I hate winter.
You can't control the wind, but you can adjust your sails.
You realize, of course, that this "winter" you speak of is nothing like the real winter we'll be seeing again in the next week or so.
Dang, I bet St. Pat's is going to be miserably cold -- unless I find some sort of beverage to warm me up. (Should I start an event thread for the South Side parade?)

I hope Eric and Fez are okay.

I didn't realize there were bad storms, but I was enjoying watching and listening to the rain/lightning. Today is my birthday.... it never rains on my birthday. Frackin' "El Nino".

That's the thing about winters up here. For the past 5 years, much like with boxes of chocolate, you never know what you're gonna get. Last year it didn't even snow until after New Year's. This year, 2 feet of snow before Christmas.

Pffft... who cares about those chumps.... I sure hope Donna is OK.. she better have red hair damnit!
As a rule, I usually avoid the outside. Especially when it's cold. But if post-parade goes inside, I'm all for it.

That's it. I'm blaming El Nino for my sump pump failing and letting 5 inches of water accumulate in my crawlspace.

House and job are intact here, but then I live near La Crosse on the MN border. All we had was some thick fog that didn't lift for two days - no bad storms. As I type this we're going through an early spring warm spell... in the middle of Winter. Go figure
For those of you from warmer climates that's not a good thing, it just means the crap'll freeze later.
Remember a few years back when it was in the 70s this time of year and then snowed in April?
Maybe the calendar is just wrong.

Wasn't it last year when we got that storm in mid-March that dumped a good foot and a half of snow in something like 8 hours? God, why do I still live in this part of the country?

I was on my computer that faces a huge bay window where I can see the Hancock building and Sears Tower in the distance there were some fantastic and big lightening strikes all night in the city. I don't know how many struck the Sears Tower. There was one in particular that had like 4 bolts reaching from all parts of the sky converging on the sears tower. Extremely bright, but beautiful.
