Dell Dimension 3000 BIOS problem
This is a buddies rig that I am taking a look at and it is not even POSTing. It is a DELL so that is a mark against it already and the error says to contact DELL support for fixing the problem. But to add fuel to the fire their warranty has run out as well so it will actually cost them money to call. Now I reset the CMOS and I got it to boot again, but when I shut down and added all the cables back it froze again and I am back to sqaure one once again. Now when I got it to work I just had power, keyboard, and monitor plugged in, so my question is is the BIOS curropted and needs to be flashed (which they don't have a floppy drive to do that with either) or is there some other issue at play here as well.
Now this isn't that old of a system and they don't game or anything so they don't need a powerhouse, but am I stuck with telling them to get a new computer?
Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

That's unlikely to be a BIOS problem. There's any number of failed components that could cause that symptom. One of the easiest to check would be RAM.... try pulling out as much RAM as you can and booting with different combinations of sticks in different slots. If that doesn't help, the next easiest thing to try is a replacement power supply. If THAT doesn't help, it's probably something screwy with the motherboard, meaning it would probably need replacement.
There should be four lights on the back labeled A, B, C, D. Check the combination and color which they are lighted and read the manual on Dell.com. See what it tells you.
