Here's some more in game footage. It a couple weeks old but i just now saw it, and thought i'd share. Yes i'm getting more/more excited.

This time some decent PvP action starting off with an assassin sneaking up on someone.

More PvP and spellcasting being shown off. It also shows that what's true in WoW and TF2 is true in AoC: Kill the fookin healer!

More game info from the producer.

Cool stuff. Definitely gives the impression that there's a different pace to the battles in game. I thought the environment looked pretty good too.

This is my MMO for 2008, x-fingers!

I have struggled to find a MMO to hold me over. WoW is just too hack-n-slash with all the MMO time sinks, Vanguard is just unfinished and barren, SWG is just barren and the once great "true" MMO is just not the same, EQ2 is really good and probably the best bang for the buck right now. However with EQ2 I feel with all the content and just getting started it is just too much to use a filler until AoC. DDO is probably my favorite in along time, just you cannot login for 30 minutes in DDO and do anything...

I am really at a crossroads on this! Maybe back to LOTRO for a few?

You could always check out PotBS?

Has DDO gotten any better? Or is it still pretty much group driven? I beta tested it and played for about 3 months before giving it up.

Also Publish 8 for SWG is due anytime now and it's a overhaul of the JTL areas with new ships and goodies. I'll definitely be jumping back in for some of that.

Still you called WoW too hack/n/slash... I think AoC while doing it in a slightly different way will be a lot of hack/n/slash. I mean that's what Conan does. In fact i'm not sure if it's in one of the links above or in another interview i've read but one of the mandates that the quest designers when making up their quests were... WWCD (what would Conan do?)

DDO is still about 75% group especially the backend of the game. God I loved that game though. Had some of the best instances in any MMO I have played.

SWG I tool with every 6 months or so. Just not the same...

Well I just find WoW to be just about the item drive period, this is what I mean by hack-n-slash (AcitonRPG). I know all MMO's at the basic item have this drive (except SWG in the early days), but WoW just takes this to level of D2 in my mind. Personally I feel that WoW is the next step in the evolution of the ActionRPG and games like HGL, Mythos, Dungeon Runners, TQ etc... are just clones of D2. I thought as I got older I wanted less complex in my MMO (maybe that is what drew me to WoW intially), but as time went on it just felt void - missing something. Now with that said I still play from time to time mostly just PvP. I kind of treat WoW PvP like I play CoD 4 - get in have fun - get out...

Anyway this is just my opinion and not worth much. Plus I do not want to turn an AoC thread into a pro/con WoW thread!

Yeah, I dropped wow due to time, addiction and money.
Now that I'm in college, developing alcoholism and getting paid to go there this shouldn't be a problem.

I am sorry, is there more to life than that?

Seriously, though.. I am looking forward to seeing how AoC works out. I love WoW and am not about to bash it in any way. It does a heck of a lot more right than wrong. But, eventually, something better will come along and that'll be the game to play (hopefully with all my friends here in GWJ, which might be the biggest factor, in truth). It might be AoC or something after that such as WoW2 or whatever Blizzard comes up with next. It will take a good game, though, to do it because Blizzard does an excellent job of adding enough content and the promises of cool new expansion packs to keep me enjoying the time I am out there.

Barbarian video from CES.

While it's almost a bit too dark to see at times it's nice to see that at higher levels that every class doesn't look the same.

I hope its more evident what you are doing than what that video showed. The fight looked no different than any other fight footage. Yet when reading the preview he was talking about buff and life drain combos that were not readily apparent to my eyes.

Not that it wasn't a cool video...

Video wasn't long enough to show a whole lot except him swinging.

Want to trade out totems? Maybe we'll have better luck getting into beta if we swap out!

As for beta it's still early in the month and they said they were going to ramp up testing in Jan. So i guess more patience is needed.

Information on the CE. I'd buy this for the music cd alone. I'm not sure how good the +exp ring will go over with fans though.

Quote:
-- Ring of Acheronia (Exclusive In-Game Item) -- The Ring of Acheronia is
an exclusive in-game item which will only ever be available in the
Collectors Edition. Stemming from the ancient civilization of Acheron,
the ring offers special XP and stamina enhancements for players,
making it a powerful companion on the brutal journey through Hyboria.

-- Hand-Finished Collectors Edition Box -- A true piece of art, the
metalay-embossed box comes with the royal emblem of King Conan.
Naturally it comes in a larger-than-life box, with inlay page and
individually numbered holographic sticker.

-- Hyborian World Faux Leather Map -- Made with a unique finish and
designed by celebrated cartographer Clayton Bunce, this 14" x 20" faux
leather map gives players an authentic overview of the vast Hyborian
world.

-- Unique Bonus DVD -- The bonus DVD is filled to the brim with visual
entertainment, and includes trailers, a greeting from the game
director, behind-the-scenes videos, developer diaries and artwork.

-- Official Age of Conan Soundtrack -- The official game soundtrack CD
features a hand-picked selection of the best music from the game.
Composed by Knut Avenstroup Haugen, the official Age of Conan
soundtrack delivers an incredible and powerful musical journey.

-- Age of Conan Art Book -- With hundreds of art pieces hand-picked by
the Art Director, this 128-page book delivers a stunning visual
experience. Featuring never-before-seen pieces, it fully depicts the
incredible amounts of art which went into the creation of the savage
world of Hyboria

-- The Drinking Cape (Bonus In-game Item) -- As fitting for a mature MMO
game, the Drinking Cape gives you access to free drinks in all the
taverns of Hyboria. This dream-come-true outfit will never be
available after the game launches, and with it you can impress friends
down the road by proving your status as a pioneer player.

-- Five Free Guest Passes -- Online games are all about having fun with
your friends, and only in the Collectors Edition will you get five
special guest passes to Hyboria. With the guest pass you can invite
five selected friends, allowing them to play together with you, at no
cost, for a limited time period.

I'm all over that Collector's Edition! A Drinking Cape!!! I mean seriously, EVERYONE should have a Drinking Cape!

I know I've mentioned it in several other threads but you should check out the original Robert E. Howard Conan stories if you haven't already. I can't wait to see how the developers implemented his world to the game.

I can't wait to jump into Hyboria with both feet. I hope this game hits the mark. It looks like it's going to kick ass.

I hear that. While it's been a while since I read the books, I still look forward to seeing if this game can find a solid spot in the MMO market.

The drinking cape has me laughing, but I must admit that a ring that give extra XP seems a bit odd. Stamina, sure. Strength bonus, I'll take that too. XP, though, just seems an odd effect for an item.

Launch is scheduled for March 25, 2008 and for those hoping for open beta, there won't be one. As Jason said, when they opened beta applications, they got 100,000 applications in a very short time. Right now, they have 15,000 invitations extended and they will simply invite many more players in the next few rounds. So if you want to take a look at this game prior to launch, and haven't put in your beta application, you can still put one in now. This is one beautiful looking game.

I'm really surprised they're not delaying they're march launch.
