Warhawk: Omega Dawn This Thursday
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 - 4:11am
There's a trailer out for a new Warhawk "booster pack" called Omega Dawn. Dropships that can carry both fellow players and vehicles. A new map and a few other things. Full FAQ here.
Warhawk: Omega Dawn Booster Pack goes on sale December 20th on the PlayStation Store for $7.99

There's also a 1.2 patch going live today. Seems to be a good amount of content here for 8 bucks, all in all. It would be a waste if there's no one to play with though. Show of hands, who's interested in revisiting Warhawk?

I've been waiting for the 1.2 patch to start playing again.
Why it took until now to patch back in a feature that was present in the beta (ability to set motion control independently for vehicles and Warhawks), I don't know, but I'm glad it's finally back.

Looks cool. For $8 I'm in.
That's two. We can decide who's best and then play some rocking 2 on 1 matches!

I'm all over this. I've been meaning to get back into Warhawk but haven't had the time recently. Will most certainly be hopping on sometime this week.

I bought Warhawk when I got my PS3. Never played it (what a waste). If $8 for this DLC means I'll get some useful time out of the game I'm in. I doubt I'll really get into it though unless there's a scheduled game night (I'm really looking to play with goodjers although I heard the public matches weren't too bad). I just never seem to hook-up with anyone for pick-up games. And I'm also unlikely to get much time on this until after the holiday vacation-family-travel stuff, sometime after the 1st.

I'd like to get the DLC but I don't really want to pay for it. I just felt the game didn't have enough content when it was released.
Well if enough goodjers buy it, I'll buy it too.

Apparently the content is up early, or so I've read.
As for the game, I am one who generally dislikes pickup games online but it works in Warhawk. You can accomplish a fair amount on your own and the vehicles and capture points causes some spontaneous teamwork. I never even bother with a headset, just hop in and have a lot of fun. You should really try it out.

I have to do a freelance job tomorrow after work but I'll definitely be up for this when I get back. I really want to play more Warhawk.

I'll pick this up, I've been wanting to get back into Warhawk for a while now, this seems like as good a time as any.

I was considering selling Warhawk because I figured the bloom was off the rose for most people, but if the new content brings folks back, I'm in... and nicely nestled at the bottom of the kills list.
So did anyone try this out yet? I dusted off the PS3 and logged on last night around 10ish ET and didn't see anyone on my friends list playing - so I played 360 instead. I did watch the Omega Dawn trailer and the dropship looks cool. I'd imagine it would be a great addition if you had a team working together.

My only problem right now is I'll be swamped until the holidays are over. I'll have to figure out what to do with Warhawk near the end of the month or in January.

I am going to try to play some Warhawk Sat. evening (EST) 9..ish. Feel free to hit me up.

I'm with Certis and I think I'll take his suggestion from the podcast and observe a fantasy launch date of Warhawk in early January. "Cool - Warhawk just came out! Wonder if it's as cool as that demo I heard people were playing in December?"

I'm in to tackle Warhawk some night, but a move and job change have put a crimp in online-ness for the time being. But i should be back by the new year.

This seems to be the most recent thread. My initial impressions of Warhawk are that it's one of the most impenetrable and worst controlling multiplayer only games I've ever played.
Locked missiles in particular remind me of BF2, where they're essentially scene decorations that have no worth whatsoever. Fire missile, warhawk pops chaff, rinse, repeat. I've seen more kills on Warhawks by tanks than I have AA emplacements.
And that's not even getting into what little infantry combat there is, which tends to work it's way down to who can throw the most land mines into the general area the quickest.

I gotta agree on the infantry combat, it's pants. The ground vehicles are a little better, but really not up to Battlefield standards and really, that's what you need to measure up to. But the flying about is fun indeed. I haven't played it since COD4 came out, but have been meaning to get back at some point. But now there's Ace Combat 6 on 360 to satisfy my flying needs... Warhawk still scratches that Crimson Skies dogfight itch, though.

See I don't think it handles even a tenth as good as Crimson Skies did. The flying mechanics are twitchy to the point of frustration. Crimson Skies was always smooth and easy to get into. This is, well I guess I already used the word. Impenetrable. The damage models just don't make any sense and the flying is so spastic I don't know how anybody that's not twelve ever gets a handle on it.
The warhawks seem to be good, but apparantly only after you've lived on the game for a few days. I lost count of the number of times I hovered over enemy infantry, nailing them with machinegun fire from the air.. only to watch their health go down in teensy little bits and then my guns overheat.
