HBO/BBC's 'Extras' Season Finale
Monday, December 17th, 2007 - 7:16pm
I did a quick search in the forums but didn't get any hits on Extras or HBO's Extras.
Anyone else out there a fan of Ricky Gervais' (BBC's Office) series?
I noticed on my DVR that the kickoff episode for Season 3(?) started this past weekend. I got into this series late (hence the ? around 3... I believe Season 1 was only 6 episodes).
Brilliant comedy. If you're a fan of the BBC's Office or the US Office, this should be up your alley and you need to check it out.
EDIT:
Season Finale... there will be no jumping of the shark with Ricky Gervais...

Yea, I had the slipping problem too, and I just find I enjoy the thwack better anyway, so it all works out well in the end.

I watched a bunch of these (Tivo'd) with a friend one day, and I loved 'em.
I thought I heard this was cancelled? I hope I'm wrong, because the writing on this is brilliant, as you'd expect from Ricky Gervais. Great show.

I'm pretty sure there's just a christmas special, and no 3rd season. Too bad..
Well, I don't like to toot my own horn, but I'm a pretty good amateur rectal photographer. Would you like to see my portfolio?

They called it a Christmas special, but it was actually more a final episode to wrap everything up. It's over. Just like "The Office", Gervais did two series (seasons) and an extended final episode.
NoooOOOOooOOOOOooooOOOOOOoOOOOOOoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This surprised me until I realized The Office was only two seasons plus a Christmas episode/finale. Gervais must just run through his best ideas and then figure its time to move onto something else.
I've seen only the first season, but my favorite bit so far has been his conversation with Patrick Stewart where Stewart describes a script he's writing ("I can see it all- I can see everything").
I was really looking forward to another season...
Course, I hadn't heard anything about it until it showed up on my DVR, and then it was 1.5 hours, which I thought was a bit strange... I guess I was hoping it was a long kickoff episode for season three.

I think Gervais just doesn't want to get caught up in being a one trick pony and tries to end while it is still meaningful. The final episode of "Extras" really touches on that with his character.
