No More Heroes (Wii)

Anyone else been following this game? It looks kind of like a cross between GTA and an ultra-violent anime, done in the same graphical style as Killer 7 (and by the same people). I'm still not sure what to make of it but Famitsu gave it a 34/40.

After Killer 7, I'm very much in wait and see mode for this one. It could be Famitsu just likes jacking off their swords. Who knows.

I can see why people disliked it, but I was crazy about Killer7. I'm easily swayed by imaginative, unusual games with bad mechanics, while good, solid games with stuff I've seen before don't do it for me. I played a little Killer7 recently just to get into the mood for No More Heroes. It'd make a nice Wii port.

Still, I bet No More Heroes ends up with bad sales and mediocre reviews over here. *Sigh* Time to start defending another indefensible game.

I watched some videos of this on IGN. Like Nyles I'm tempted by the unusual look and overall style. But I'm a little afraid of the structure. It looks like a bunch of mini-games (Ahh, why does that always come up when talking about the Wii!?) hooked together with a loose mission based storyline. I like the idea of breaking up the game with some variety, but the main course had better be more than a bunch of appetizers on the same plate.

That kitten was pretty cute, though.

Anyone picking this up tomorrow? I think I'm about ready for a nice juicy M Rated game for the Wii.

I never played Killer7, but every trailer for this game looks really, really cool. On the other hand, the trailers don't generally show much of the actual gameplay - but hell, it's still enough to get me excited about it. Unless the reviews are really abysmal, I'll definitely buy it.

I really like Killer7. In fact, I really want to play it again. I might rent this one before I pick it up though.

The concept of a fictional California city called "Santa Destroy" is almost enough alone to get me to buy it, but like many I'm planning to be fiscally responsible and wait for reviews to roll in.

What's a Tag?

I'll probably rent it because I heard it has a few technical problems which I'm leery about.

I'd like to, but I'm saving my money for SSBB, as well as for reviews of No More Heroes to see if it's worth it.

What the hay. I'll call lab rat. Gonna get it first thing tomorrow. I'll let you cats know the taste of it as soon as I've got a sizeable bite of it in my mouth.

Sweet, let us know what you think, Cramps.

I was originally pretty psyched but it was surprisingly how much research I had to do to find out anything other than, "hey, this game is wacky and looks neat." When signs pointed to a game that alternates between a linear brawler and driving around a small, empty free-roaming city, I became a little skeptical.

Gametrailers review is up.

The main complaint seems to be that it's not like Grand Theft Auto. That's perfectly fine for me because GTA is so bland and boring IMO. I like what I've seen so this is a definite buy.

Finally! Looks like we have a fighting system on the Wii that doesn't consists of swinging the Wii remote like an idiot. I'm now really interested in picking this up.

Tried to pick this up at my local Gamecrazy but they didn't receive it today and have it in their machines for Feb 5th.

Guess I'll have to wait till I pass by a Gamestop to purchase this.

It looks pretty interesting. But what is all that sh*t flying in your face about. There are so many coins, lightning strikes, circles and other stuff on screen that you can't even see the action any more. I hate that.

It's my understanding that all that stuff used to be blood.

I believe that the Euro version is censored but The States version stayed intact.

That might just be the strangest event in the world of gaming this year. I mean, it usually happens vice versa, with the US having their games deboobified and all. Sure, there is Germany with their cute no-swastikas-and-only-green-blood policy, but other than that, Europe is usually the land of gore.

Glad to hear the gore is intact. I mean, in real life when I stab someone with a sword, gold coins don't explode out of their chest. And I like my games realistic!

I'm liking it so far. It's fun to play, has an endless bag of clever visual tricks, and the humor works for me. It has kind of a post-punk game fetish thing going on. I wouldn't recommend it to everyone, though. Much like Killer 7, it could annoy someone within minutes, and continuing to play after that would be stupid.

Looks like us Canadians have to wait. From what the internets have told me, Ubisoft forgot to print French manuals for the game.

You gotta be kidding. Ubisoft, of all companies, forgot to do that? A French publisher, which also happens to have like 4 trillion employees in Quebec? Consider me impressed.

The best part is that you get a delay waiting for a manual that is craptacular in to begin with.

This game is officially awesome.

Me: *looks at tv and sees main character Travis just standing there*
"What is he doing?"
*looks at hubby who has both of his hands up near his head*
"..."
*looks back at tv*
"Oh! He's 'on the phone?'"
*looks back at hubby*
"Can you put it away?"
*hears a voice coming from the wiimote speaker*
"... ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
Will: "Yes."
Me: "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"
Will: "Yes."

I want to pick this up, but I don't think I'll have time to play it. Still getting through Crysis, with Mario Galaxy, Bioshock and Call of Duty 4 on deck. I may get this one when I'm done ... hopefully it'll be discounted by then.

If I were a bad demoman, I wouldn't be sitting here dicussing it with you, now would I?
