December 3 - 7

You thought it was bad for games last week, look at this week. A new DDR bundle on the 360 takes center stage on an unbelievably mediocre week of gaming. Again, this is probably fine because there are plenty of great games out there to play, and there's no chance you've begun to have time to get to them all. For example I had been waiting to really dig into Mass Effect until this week.

So, naturally, my Xbox gave me the Red Rings of Death this morning, leaving me in the lurch on my plans and, much like my friends to the north, unable to play even Rock Band! This is a tragedy beyond human understanding. For the next few weeks this house won't be a-rockin', so I guess you could bother knocking.

On DVD this week, you can catch the full and uncut version of Battlestar Galactica Razor, which was surprisingly good. Also available, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. More here.

I guess it's only a matter of time before everyone's 360 dies.

Mine has been acting strange lately. We're pretty much waiting for the RROD. Not if, but when.

I feel your pain. As noted in the 'Brick' thread, my went 'RROD' Saturday night. I went out the next day after consultation with the wife and bought and Arcade box, which, after I slapt my HD on, will now be my primary(and this was extremely painless, for the HD had all my information. Just had to update box). The one I get back (unless by some miracle they send me an 'epic'...one can dream:>) will become my wifes 'arcade' box (she loves puzzles!). I just couldn't see Christmass Holidays without my 360. I AM really into Mass Effect and of course some other, wonderful releases..

The disturbing thing is that the release of the expansion implies the original sold well enough to justify it.

Well, I've been enjoying mass effect for a couple of days, and am praying my console stays alive. It's been doing this wierd thing where EVERY time I access my friends tab, the console crashes... Haven't been having any in game hard locks or anything, but who know's when it might go. My question is: Is there a definitive answer as to whether or not the widespread RROD issues have been solved? Are these "improvements" that solve the problems incorporated into refurbed consoles? Anyone?

Anyhow, that's all I wanted to say. Mass Effect, AWESOME and from a Canadian POV, Sux to be you. XD

EDIT: wanted to add that I'm playing on a refurb, as my original 360 purchased around feb 06 to play oblivion died in late sept 07.

Perhaps not, an old Gamespot article on how well the developers behind Eternal Forces did:
GameSpot wrote:
Yesterday the publisher announced its financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2006, and it posted sales of just over $2.2 million. The entirety of that sum was due to sales of Left Behind Games' first product, the PC real-time strategy game Left Behind: Eternal Forces, which launched in mid-November.

However, the publisher still spent more than it brought in for the quarter, resulting in a net loss of more than $4.1 million for the three months. That brings its total losses since inception to more than $31 million.

I have a hard time believing that the company has even broke even since then, but apparently there are people out there pumping enough money into this project to keep the the business afloat.

Also, apparently Big Huge Games is also working with them on a sequel.

To anyone that has not been royally pissed off by the three rings of death. I suggest getting on the phone with Xbox and telling them your box has the red lights. They'll send you your cardboard coffin in a couple of days and when your system does get the lights (kinda like the ol not if but when) you'll be that much more prepared for the wait. As I write this I am reading about all the great new game reviews to the games I havent been able to play for a little over a month now. I really believe M$ should send me something to entertain myself in the mean time. Ball tied to a string on a cup?

Remember a time when game consoles just worked and never gave red rings of death?
Remember a time that gaming companies had integrity and cared about their product?

my heart bleeds for you.

Of course I can top you with a 360 that went belly up with error code e74 (lower right hand red led), sent it in to microsoft last week about 4 days before Mass Effect arrived from Liongames.
Then last night with all the high winds we had a power surge that killed ,hopefully only, my wii's power supply. Which was behind two (2) surge protectors.

So I'm knocked down to an original xbox, ps2 , ds , and my comp.

whatever am I going to do.
