Which guitar?

Like a lot of people, I am trying to dig up a copy of RB. In the mean time, I wanted to post a question regarding the guitar instrument. It seems like not everyone is all that thrilled with the RB guitar. I have GH1 &2 for the PS2, but not for the 360. I'd like to add a second guitar to be used as either the lead guitar or bass line and was wondering if I should wait for the RB guitar to be released seperately, or pickup GH3 with the guitar? I think Rabbit was saying how much he like the GHIII guitar on the podcast.

Anyone know if you can purchase the GHIII guitar seperately?

What do you guys think?

Do you want it right, or do you want it right now?

I know you can purchase the Explorer separately. I haven't seen singles of the Les Paul yet.

I first borrowed Danjo's Explorer and then later bought GH3 with the guitar. The Les Paul has a tighter feel on the buttons and the strum, but, the Explorer's buttons are closer together which might help some people who can't quite stretch or have small hands (carnies).

The Les Paul is wireless, but, uses 2 AA batteries by default. Also the Les Paul can come apart for transportation, but, I found that this ability left a little play in the neck when you put it back to together so I ended up using foam tape to make the assembly semi-permenant.

As far as durability I know that Danjo's is still working just fine and he's gone through GH2 and 3 playing on at least hard and some expert.

Also, if you play sitting down the Explorer feels better in your lap, since, when they shrunk the design of the Les Paul, that moved the place where your knee is supposed to go in relation to the strum and buttons.

I, personally, love the Les Paul and I think I can play better with the feel of the buttons, but, I think it's probably got a lot to do with the fact that the Les Paul is what I practice with and what I'm familiar with.

Both are good guitars.

RB Guitar in my opinion, but I haven't used the GHIII guitar. I hate the xplorer guitar in comparison to RB guitar. The xplorer guitar I get hand cramps from being crunched up due to the size. The RB guitar is just so much more comfortable, and I can play a whole lot longer with it.

I'll add my vote for the Rock Band Strat (if you get a working one, which so far I'm still waiting on my replacement that I asked for last Tuesday the 20th, but I'm not bitter or anything ) anyway I much prefer the Rock Band guitar to the Les Paul (and to add some perspective I prefer the Les Paul to the X-Plorer). I've never been a big fan of the clicky strum bars on the Red Octane controllers and the strum mechanism on the RB Strat is a lot more precise as you don't have to push it all the way down to get a register on the note (helps with strings of really fast notes) than the Les Paul for me.

I don't like the RB guitar. The action on the strummer is too stiff and lacks any kind of feedback as to whether I actually hit it right or not. I got a GH3 guitar on the xbox and like that better. But, my hands are fairly small, fairly old, and fairly weak.

RB guitar for me. I liked how it was bigger and looked a lot better than the GH guitar, not to mention that the frets are actually pretty quiet. If there's one thing I hate about GH, it's watching people play and having to listen to that awful clicking along with the music. Now I just have to listen to the awful thud of drums. It also felt like it had more weight.

Has anyone tried any of the several third-party guitars available?

In Ultima Online I used to poison hams and leave them on the ground in cities for people to pick up and eat. I can't believe how many people thought street ham was a good thing to eat. -Elliottx
