BSG Razor airs Nov. 24th at 9 (aka tonight) on Sci Fi
Saturday, November 24th, 2007 - 7:47pm
Title says it all. Kind of sneaked up on me, what with the holiday and Mass Effect occupying my attention.

I stopped watching the show in the middle of Season 3... does this movie require knowledge of Season 3 ending ?
This thread does not scale to my level.
From the previews, this seems to follow Pegasus prior to its joining the fleet, so I think it should pretty much stand on its own.

Anybody watch the flashbacks with young Adama? Very cool stuff.

Lee is Commander of the Pegasus, and this story follows an officer who came onto the Pegasus the day of the Cylon attack. There is a lot of her story is told in flashbacks. All in all, it is premium Battlestar Galactica story telling, with the only real flaw I saw in it was that we already know the fate of certain people, so some tension was lost there.

Yeah, I'll be catching this at 1AM when SF replays it...make sure you throw a spoiler on that discussion.
Thank god DirecTV now has SciFi in HD.

Those were supposed to be a part of the final film, but were cut for running time. Sci Fi likely aired them just to make people watch their forgettable Flash Gordon remake.

I think they're going to be edited back into the DVD release.
EDIT: And Flash Gordon? That show actually made it more than two weeks?

Why did I need to wait until 9:45 to check GWJ. WHY?!?!

Pretty cool so far.
Although I could do without the Quiznos guy recapping what I've just watched before every commercial break.

It was good. Possibly even better than anything in Season 3 so I'm feeling fairly optimistic about Season 4 all of a sudden.

It will probably be playing again around 1AM or so.

Yeah. It will be a year since the last real season. Amazing. I'm not sure I'll remember who they're fighting by then.
All joking aside, I might take this time to rewatch the first three seasons. I like the show enough to do that. Especially the first two seasons.

Actually in a way, im glad its so far off. I don't want BSG to end

Well, I want to end it the right way. So I'm fine with them taking their time if that's what's required.

Am I the only one who thought the not-so-subtle tie-in to the end of Season 3/beginning of Season 4 seemed a little forced?

Cylon thespians are awesome! Sorry about my lisp.

Awesome.
Yeah, it was.
I think season 3 kind of took the series off course from my liking, but this was great.
Anyone else sick of the "jump out half a second before the nukes hit" scene though?
If it was scheduled earlier, the writers strike would probably do it in, so our choices seem to be between planning to wait and being forced to wait.

Thanks for the reminder. I had the 26th stuck in my head as the air date.
In other news, MARCH? Razor has better be good enough to keep me from dying of anticipation.
Really nice job, even if the ending was a bit anticlimactic.

Looks you can snap up the Razor DVD on December 4th (*adds to Christmas wish list*).
Anyone know when they're going to release the Season 3 DVDs?
That's a good question actually. With season 2 they couldn't wait to get them out on DVD, the first half of the season set came out before season 2 even finished airing, but I haven't heard a word about season 3 hitting DVD at all.
And may I just add that I REALLY hate it when TV show seasons are broken in half for DVD release. I hope they don't do that for season 3.

I noticed that Season 1 is coming in HDDVD. Makes my S1 and S2 box sets feel worthless now..

I finally watched BSG: Razor and I must say that it's a very good mini-movie. I thought the actress they picked for Kendra Shaw (Stephanie Chaves-Jacobsen) was pretty good and she had a kick ass Aussie accent. I really enjoyed it and honestly I would wait two months between showings for something like this 5 or 6 times a year. Six 2 hour BSG mini-movies a year. It's a nice thought at least for me. I'm jonesing for my next BSG hit now though. Nothing like a taste and then another wait.

Gotta agree with kilroy. Considering how they developed the series from the appearance of the Pegasus onward, I kind of think the writers would prefer regularly scheduled TV movies, as well. As for Razor: I thought it was very well done, especially by Galactica's standards. The scene with Cain and her original XO in the CiC really stood out, and it was really nice to see the original cylons get some love. I didn't think they looked hokey at all, and seemed to be generally effective. The "By Your Command" scene was nice. The final battle devolved into the contrived battle drama that I've come to expect from BSG, but sometimes you just have to accept something for what it is.
The only real quibble I had with the show at all was with Cain's reaction to the initial sneak attack. "Cylons! It's gotta be them!" Really? You were positive that quick? That'd be like a battleship captain at Pearl Harbor going, "Those damn dirty Spaniards! First, they blew up the Maine, and now they're coming to finish us off!"

I had to chuckle when I read this. Only because I thought of Star Trek and how many times some unknown force attacked something and later was discovered to be some rogue faction of some previously encountered/war race. Though you have to understand that Cain didn't have another enemy outside the cyclons. There was no other race that attacked the humans via space. The cyclons were the only ones that humans have encountered in BSG. No aliens at all. If you look at it from a human perspective of Pearl Harbor it's a bit different since that's the Americans versus other countries. So Cain's guess that it's the cyclons is pretty good considering they were the only enemies that humans had and the only ones that could set off that many nukes in a barrage attack. It's not like rebels have that sort of firepower.
