Recent flood of good DS games.

COD4: Modern Warfare - I own this one already, and it starts you off with a bang, manning a turret in a vehicle chase around mountains, with helicopters whirring overhead, stirring, quality soundtrack, and plenty of voiceover. It really feels like a full-featured FPS crammed into the DS. Also, for once, throwing grenades is actually doable, because the weapon switch buttons are placed close to the left hand.

Contra - looks old-school-authentic, and got a good review at IGN, even though they claim its incredibly hard.

Lego Star Wars: Complete Trilogy - I ordered this, it didn't arrive yet. Good reviews all around, apparently copies the level design of big-console version entirely, as well as local wireless coop play. Cutscenes look like South Park though, but since they redid the core engine from scratch and fixed the glitches of Lego Star Wars II, including replacing MIDI with "real" music, it's forgiveable. Star Wars in my pocket, baby !

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 - behold, a decent fighting game that is playable vs. random people via Nintendo Wi-Fi service ! Got a good score at IGN.

The Simpsons Game - got a decent score at IGN, but from the videos and description it looks even better.

Final Fantasy XII: Absurd subtitle - Not a fan of the franchise, but it looks to have enormous production values and got one favorable review so far.

I would've mentioned Dementium: The Ward, a notable product by "Gamecock", but they took absolutely the worst things about Doom 3 and made a game out of them. Being unable to shoot and use the flashlight at the same time ? How did this get past... anyone ?

All in all, though... it's a good time to have a DS again.

I don't know about any of those games TBH, but I'm glad there are good games coming out. I didn't even know COD4 was coming out for the DS at all! I heard the first DS Lego Star Wars games were buggy and uninspired compared with the bigger console versions. The collection is different?

Other games I've heard positive stories about:

Bleach DS - good portable fighter according to the guys at the Team Freemont podcast. Hampered slightly by the DS control pad but still a good fighter.

Bomberman Land 2 - Portable Bomberman done right.

Panzer Tactics DS - A hex-based, turn-based strategy game for the DS. I've been waiting to see how it reviewed before grabbing a copy. It just came out and I expect it will be pretty good at the least. Videos

Warhammer 40k Squad Command - Just came out on the PSP, comes out on the DS next month. I can't figure out which one to get it for but I'm leaning towards the PSP version. In fact I was thinking of making a thread for it soon.

I'm curious about Orcs and Elves as well, even though it's pretty far away from my must-buy list.

MrDeVil909: I feel it necessary to point out that there are drug resistant strains of most STDs. Especially in developing nations.
Funkenpants: Great. Yet another area in which we're losing our lead to foreigners.

Yes, they used a completely different developer who started from scratch. The downside is the flat South Park cutscenes, but the upside is ... everything else.
