New Fire Pro on PS2... PSP?

I found a video on gametrailers last night showing off a trailer to a new version of an old japanese wrestling game. Being more of a PC gamer by tradition I had no idea that this game even existed. It seems like one of those games that if you see a screenshot you will instantly dis-miss it, but based on the customisation system demo'd in the videos I am very curious to find out other GWJers views on the game. And more importantly, if there is any plans to bring this cool looking game onto the PSP. I have no interest in wrestling at all.. and have never followed it on TV, but by sheer customisation options I have been drawn to its 2d goodness.

Anyone an authority on this quirky little title?.. Fire Pro Wrestling or something I belive it is called, (it was very late and I was half asleep while wandering the many halls of youtube land)

Fire Pro Wrestling 1&2 came out a few years ago for the GBA. It had a HUGE character selection. The names of the wrestlers were made up or generic but the models were very much like their real life counterparts. Guys like Hulk Hogan, Brett Hart, The Crusher, Kenny "Sodbuster" Jay....and a crapton more.

The cool think was you could edit the wrestlers stats and look and even rename them. This was really sweet when you wanted to pit your favorites against each other.

Anyway. This is a budget title but a day one purchase for me. Also, it is not a button masher. You need to time your attacks when the two wrestlers lock up. Then you can perform a light, medium or heavy attack. But you need to work up to the devastating stuff and wear down your opponent, because they can counter you if you come out with your big guns or signature moves right away.

Enough rambling....BUY IT!

hehe I noticed that its out on the PS2.. which I don't have, but I recently invested in a PSP.. any rumours of a PSP version? It looks the sort of game that would translate amazingly to the portable format.

I just want to make some crazy new wrestler up and take the ring by storm lol..
