* Wherein Elysium Goes Bankrupt

Let's just hit the highlights for a moment, shall we. Crysis, Super Mario Galaxies, Kane & Lynch, Assassin's Creed, Cooking Mama 2, Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, Need For Speed Pro Street, and more. If there is an epicenter of gaming each year, then break out your Richter scales, because fun is approaching magnitude 8.6 -- honestly with that kind of material I should be in marketing! I'm not entirely sure how to suss out which game should be game of the week. No question that Mario Galaxy, Crysis, Assassin's Creed and maybe even a dark horse candidate like Cooking Mama 2 have legitimate claims, so I feel like I have to step outside the usual methodology for this week, and include the fact that Jade Raymond probably infuses Assassin's Creed with some extra layer of awesome as some kind of tipping point for the game and give the nod to Ubisoft's flagship title.

Mario Galaxy for me. Today simply cannot go by fast enough. (I'll do Assassins Creed as a rental at later date, I think.)

Galaxy, not Galaxies as in the article =)

Not gonna buy it anyway, I'm so fed up with Mario that I'm growing to hate him.

Anyone know if Kane & Lynch is any good? Does it have Coop?

So there's a correlation between the prettiness of the developer and the quality of the game? Hm. I would have guessed it's an inverse relationship though.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Commander for the PSP drops on Tuesday? Squee! I thought it wasn't coming out until December. I must run to GameCrazy to see if I can still pre-order, otherwise I'm sure they won't have it on launch day.

I want to check out Assassin's Creed, but I'll probably rent it.

Sorry, you're right. I keep forgetting how seriously I'm supposed to take this. I'll get the executive board together and we'll have a revised statement prepared sometime early fiscal year 2009. -non threatening smiley here to indicate playful tongue-in-cheek manner -

I dug what I played at PAX. It's worth a rental, at least, which is probably much better for your wallet anyway/

I think there might be a positive correlation between the prettiness of the producer and the apparent quality of the game.

I say that every game should include a booklet full of "glamour shots" of the developers from now on. Or in the case of WOW, pics of the developers in their nicest fursuits.

While the little forum troll inside me is begging to come out and bitch and moan for 5 paragraphs, I'm loving these "controversial" choices. Move over GOTY - GOTW is serious business

Besides, any angst I might have is easily offset by the site supporting a Montreal studio.
Anyone know when Assassin's Creed is coming out for the PC?

EDIT: Never mind. Delayed until early 2008. Ah well, spreading the gaming goodness is never a bad thing.

holding my breath waiting for ups to deliver Assassins Creed from amazon (probably should have started the non-breathing thing tomorrow). Will pick up Mario Galaxy at the nearest TRU to take advantage of the 25 smackeru goupon and throw it towards Mass Effect , Naruto 360, skate, or PES 2008 (can't decide)

I'll be getting Assassin's Creed for Xbox 360... plus Mass Effect next week. That would be all for me this Holiday season.

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, I'll wait for reviews and a demo. I'll be skipping Need For Speed. (The series is dead to me once more)

Soldier of Fortune: Payback... already on release! Um, wow! I like the 1st one (except for crappy end Boss), 2nd was ok, now 3rd... Demo?

With the amount of games coming out in the next two weeks I'll have to streamline my schedule and cut out non-important activities such as bathing, sleeping, and eating.

You say this a lot. What Mario games have you been playing? There was the DS one a year or two ago, but before that you have to go back to Mario Sunshine. A bunch of sports/party games seem to always be coming out, I guess.
