Based on the findings of the report, my conclusion was that this idea was not a practical deterrent for reasons which at this moment must be all too obvious.

There's a line somewhere between gamer-dom and uber dork-dom. I don't know exactly where it is, but I know top video game sword lists are on the wrong side of it.

Alright here's the "real" list of Swords that are bad ass.
Alastor from Devil May cry: Why is this sword bad ass? Well it's simple, Dante let the sword go through his body and "eat his heart" to sign a covenant with the blade.
We've seen so many "energy" based swords through our collective gaming experience but I have to say that the Psi-Blades from Starcraft get a nod for being bad ass.
Atma Weapon- FFVI(FF3 US): Yup the only sword that grew in size and power as you leveled up maybe one of the only swords in the 16 bit era where you saw marked progress visually.
It's been mentioned in a few posts and I agree Soul Calibur is pretty bad ass. The sword of dreams turns out to be the sword of nightmares for anyone that touched it.
I sat back and thought about my last pick for a good 20 minutes and I kept coming back to this sword: Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker. All you WoW players know what I'm talking about. This thing was the ultimate sword Pre-BC. It took a lot of MC runs to get it and those that had it were gods among men.
And that is my list of Bad Ass swords. Maybe I hit a few you thought were cool and maybe I brought up a few you forgotten.

Good list, Devi. Atma Weapon is pretty obscure but it's definitely significant. I also agree that the psi-blades are far superior to the energy sword from HALO.
However, I disagree that a sword in an MMO should be eligible. I mean, it's just another piece of loot. It's only significant until they patch in something better.

Ummm, are you people insane? I stopped believing in Santa Clause because he never brought me a working lightsaber, and you just casually dismiss it? I know its in a movie, but its also in enough games to warrant consideration. And its just so cool.

Is there really a big difference between Blades of Chaos and Heavenly Sword? As for the list... meh, and personally, I would not pick any of them for my top 5.

I'm far from being a Final Fantasy fanboy, but any list that doesn't include the gun blade is an incomplete list.
I accidentally clicked on the link to their forums, and was told my browser wouldn't work because it wasn't the latest IE or FireFox. Denying access based on user agent? If thats not a decision straight out of 1997, I'm not sure what is.
