My Tiny RPG

As I've been playing games for 16 years or so, I've always fancied making one myself. Well, here it is. It takes about 10~20 minutes to play.
It takes place in a fictional Japanese historical setting(ie, its not historically accurate), inspired by events that happened to my ancestors from Japan.
The first part is a jrpg style battle. Strength helps your counter attacks and blocking. If your strength is high enough, you can get a guaranteed %100 damage prevention block, just to let you know. Speed helps you dodge. Magic helps you heal yourself. Position affects your stats.
You can use the back button on your browser at any time to cheat, if you like cheating. Please don't cheat. ~_~
Let me know what you think.

Maybe I am missing some necessary background, but this isn't very intuitive. I think a visible log of previous actions and their consequences (translated to plain English) would help.

Man, when the guy with the fallout avatar says your rpg doesn't make sense, you know you're in trouble.
Now it says what each step does.
Actually the Fallout fans are some of the pickiest on the Internet. Don't take it too much to heart ...

Really? I thought they had a reputation for being cuddly puppy dogs!

A lot of people have told me it was confusing, but that was a very insightful suggestion for how to fix it.
It's not bad for a one man browser RPG done with limited time.
1. The hobo on the first page confuses me.
2. Why am I fighting cauliflower?
3. There's no explanation for any of the moves or options.

Hey, thanks.
1. That's supposed to be the main character I should put a caption there. I have an "alt" text there, but that doesn't really work.
2. I integrated two smaller games (the battle and the mountain climbing) into one larger story, but I didn't redo the writing and the graphics in the battle engine yet. I just figured it was time to publish it.
3. I was thinking about doing a "tutorial battle" in a future update as time permits.
There are also some cool things to do with sound design still.
That happens sometimes with hobos.

Am I the only one who can't get past the first fight? No matter what I seem to do after a few rounds I end up picking the wrong action and the other guy one-shots me, which is frustrating.
Regardless, I'd like to be kept up to date with this, blackboxme, because I've also been writing a little web-based game in my time off and I'd be interested to compare notes
