So what did I do on my lunch hour (plus a bit more)?

Killed the Headless Horseman five times over!

About to be run down.

The thick of the fight

Up close and ugly

Love the pics! Did he drop some purps for y'all?

Fun thread. I'm looking forward to taking him down, as well as the other Hallow's End shenanigans.

What headless horseman? Never seen him before.

Couple years ago was killing skele's in WP around halloween, and one randomly dropped a 14 or 16 slot pumpking bag, don't remember which. It was bop, but at the time, was huge. Now its one of my bank bags:)

By the time is was done I think pretty much everyone got a purple and a broom of some sort (good for one flight only it seems). Of course the Horseman's Helm dropped and none of us could use it (nor could it be DE'd)!

I got The Horseman's Signet Ring

I heard that killing him is a daily quest, so you could do it 5 x day until the festival is over?

This guy is a loot pinata. And he's just so dang fun to kill! He drops at least one purple EVERY time. You can kill him about 4-5 times per hour (you'll run into the instance reset limit). Each person in the party can summon him once per day. I picked up the epic broom yesterday and we pretty much got a ring for everyone who wanted one. I want that helm though!

I ran him a few times on my Paladin last night. Got both rings, a flying broom, the cloth pumpkin hat, and the pumpkin pet. Then I brought my mage (she could use the caster ring, despite the lack of crit) and it was just brooms and healing rings for three kills. Fun little fight, though very tank-dependent.

Tiny warning: the drops from HH cannot be DE'd or sold to a vendor, so let people take them even for off-spec gear sets.

You can summon only one a day, and that uses 1 daily quest. But having other people summon him does not use a quest, so you can do it as many times as you can get people per day.

Er, yeah. That's what I meant. Sorry, I skipped all the intermediate steps!

The best is reading the whining thread on the official forums, they are calling these drops "welfare epics".

Some people really have a warped sense of reality.

Did my first run of him tonight. Was aiming for the caster ring, but the healing ring dropped instead, which my greed roll won anyway. For some reason, everyone in the group disbanded, despite the fact a couple of use could have summoned and another group could not be found

Regarding the official forums: if these are "welfare epics" then I for one am glad Azeroth is becoming a welfare state

I landed my welfare epic last night. Picked up the dps ring. It is a slight upgrade, if that. I guess if you suck and are decked out in greens in blues it will be the easiest upgrade you will ever get. If you want to cry about some lightweight getting a nice upgrade, get a life.

On a semi-related note, last night we were running regular BF and an 18-slot BoP halloween bag dropped off of a random mob. Pretty cool, if you ask me. I believe Braun won it.

Got the dps ring this morning. I am newly 70 and still in the converting sucky greens/blues to blues/purples stage so it was a nice to swap a green ring for a purple. I don't see any problem with these "epic lites" - they fill a gap for very casual players and anyone willing to spend more time will inevitably end up with a better epic anyway.

The rings are identical to badge rewards and heroic boss drops, and they're much easier to get. So if you're looking at that really nice badge ring, I'd suggest farming him for it.

Are these welfare epics? Kinda. The effort really doesn't match the reward. But I can't really complain, even though I technically have "better" for all the drops. I've been trying to get a healer ring, so I can get 2xBand of Halos.
