BTW: I love AtlasLoot.. and it doesn't require Atlas (at least it doesn't anymore).

Also: Cartographer is a pretty nice Map mod that has a smaller memory imprint than Atlas, while still allowing notes, having all the instance maps, tracking resource nodes, etc., in it.

Cartographer doesn't include as full a suite of instance maps though; Atlas has been around long enough to include Azeroth instances, whereas Cartographer does not. However, that aside, Cartographer is vastly superior, and is way smaller, memory wise. Another thing I'd throw in is Omen over KTM. KTM is nice, but can't track aggro over multiple mobs. This is a major deficiency, especially when you get into a raiding environment, and can even be useful while grouped. CTMod is another one that I feel has largely gone the way of the dodo, but YMMV. I prefer agUnitFrames or X-Perl for raid tracking.

Hmm.. I have never been in an instance where I didn't have a map for it, AJ. I do load it from the development site, though, so maybe that's why.

If Omen does track agro better over multiple mobs, that would be great. As a healer, it's usually those scenarios where avoiding threat is the biggest trick. Although, to be honest, 99% of the time I pull agro from a heal, it's because I had no choice...and just do the healer tricks to dump threat or tank from there. Still, as mobs die, it would be nice to see where agro stands with the next target, etc.

ag_unitframes is where I am at, too. It was x-perl, but I was running into issues with the party pets module.

I'm pretty new to the mods, but I have to say I'm liking Cartographer and Omen quite a bit. Atlas' maps look nicer (I miss the more professional look they have), but having something track where mining nodes are so I can check them quickly and easily is very nice.

I've been keeping the raid tracking stuff on the back burner (I'm a decent ways away from being ready for it anyway), but I'm pretty confused as to what they actually do. They sound pretty intimidating; the x-perl stuff sounded more like a programming environment at first glance. Can someone describe what they do and how they're used? I don't need a lot of detail, just curious what they provide players in various roles.

Any big FuBar users? I've found the mods for it much better than TitanPanel, but there are so many and I'm too lazy to try more than a handful. I love the location plugin though, it provides quick reference for other areas I can go.

Raid tracking mods usually provide lifebars and other general raid information to you. CTRA also originally provided a lot of features the current Blizzard UI provides-ready checks, positionable lifebars, ect. Some are actually useful in 5-man situations, too.

What I use:
Grid is a lightweight(in size) raid bar mod that can condense a 40-man raid into about a quarter of the screen real estate it took before. Very powerful, it allows the display of a LOT of information, and I feel that it's overall a much better mod than CTRA(and I used CTRA for a long time pre TBC).
Bongos for bars.
Omen is much, much, much better than KTM. It's less of a resource hog, and does track multiple mobs transparently-the main target does not have to be set by the raid leader, it automatically switches as you change targets.
Deadly Boss Mods are pretty much required for Kara on-the timer bars are extremely useful for bosses.

We use X-perl unit frames instead of the CTRA ones. You get a full suite of player, pet, party, raid, target/target of target/target of target of target, tank frames, plus a "who is targeting you/who is also targeting your target" window, the raid frames colour in with poison/curse/magic/MC/disease. They're also very configurable. It isn't a particularly lightweight mod, but it is fully featured.

X-Perl & Other Unit Frames: It's just like any other mod; plug & play for minimum functionality, but highly configurable. It's the same across the board though, just information about buffs and such raid-wide.
FuBar - I'm a huge FuBar proponent. I too used TitanPanel for a long time, but I can use twice the plugins for less memory used with FuBar.

Any particular plugins you use? Looks like I've got bag, clock, durability, experience, guild (nice easy list for seeing if others my level are on), location (love the ability to find good areas for questing), money, regen and rest (find this wonderful for tracking my many chars).

I guess I'll worry about the raid plugins when I get closer to having a character of that level. Hopefully that will be sooner, both with 2.3 coming and the fact that I'm finally starting to focus in on fewer chars.

Oh, my list is pretty crazy, it's not quite a full 3 rows. I have clock, bag, mail, one for Bartender, ag_Unitframes, QuestFu, MCP(allows for enabling/disabling addons on the fly), Durabilityfu, ExperienceFu, Autoprofit, ItemBonuses, ItemRack, MiniPerformance, MoneyFu, TopScoreFu, LocationFu, GuildFu, FriendsFu, FactionsFu, Omen, CombatTimeFu(I don't really use this one though, it's just there), a DPS meter and RestFu(Really nice, tracks rested XP, time to full rest, tiem played, current zone across all chracters by realm.), TradeCooldownFu(tracks trade skill cool downs on all toons), SpeedFu, RegeantFu(tracks spell reagents), and ToFu(flight path timer.)

That's pretty much all of them, I think. If there's something that isn't self explanatory, as and it shall answered you.

Another handy site is Kaliban's Loot List.

If you're a warlock theres a great mod called Necrosis that I've really enjoyed. It actually has a GUI that gives a nice compact interface for most of your summons/curses.

Get FuBar. It will provide all of the functionality of TitanPanel plus a whole lot more. AnimeJ listed some great ones there. Some of the other add-ins for it I use that are pretty nice:
SkillsPlusFu (tracks all your character profession cooldowns and skill levels)
AuditorFu (like MoneyFu but more information)
EmoteFu (gives you easy acess to all of the emotes)

There's a cool little mod called "ShadowOff" that I use on my Shadowpriest. It basically just drops you out of shadowform automatically when you click on a healing spell for those moments when the MH goes down. It's small, simple, and effective.

NaturEnemyCast Bars is awesome. It gives cooldown timers on all kinds of things. Comes in very handy.

Decursive is handy if you have a decurse/cure/dispell ability.

I downloaded the latest versions of most of these, and started having a crashing problem. Looks like I've isolated it to QuestFu. If I disable the sounds, everything's fine. If I enable the sounds, as soon as one of them goes off for finishing a quest or part thereof, I crash shortly thereafter. Anyone else seen this issue? I'm fine with the sound off, although I certainly enjoyed hearing the peasant say "Job done!" when I finished a quest. Haven't heard that sound in a long time.

I used to use a lot of the Fubar/Ace stuff about 6-9 months or so ago, but went back to CTMod after a lot of those mods kept breaking on me. Granted, I'm not sure if this is true for others. How are those working now?

I was using Necrosis for a while myself but I didn't like the usability to footprint ratio. I just switched to Fortewarlock which works great and it displaces Necrosis in addition to Dotimer (Natur Castbar for you). Fortewarlock doesn't have the cute little circle thing like Necrosis, but it has been updated more recently, has a smaller footprint, and has more utility I feel than Necrosis.

I am a FuBar user - they use less memory than some of the other bars I've seen out there. I run pretty lean with location, clock, bag, money and the Closet Gnome plugins.

For raiding, Omen has proved to be better than KTM - as has been stated.

I actually prefer WoWHead as a resource above the others. However, Thott (the creator of Thottbot) actually plays on my server... pretty cool guy actually.

For personal reference I run SWStats to track info, but in raiding we are using WoW Web Stats. The depth of data that provides is actually pretty interesting. I also run Cartographer and Decursive.

At any rate, that is just my two cents.

Interesting site that allows you to sort a large amount of armory information by server. For example, if you wanted to see a list of the warriors with the most hit points on your server, it will provide that information, sorted from top to bottom. Most stamina? Most resiliance? Most spell damage? It is all there.

I'm not sure if it lets you make notes or not but there is an addon for FuBar that lets you track how many of your friends are online. I think it may be called FuBuddy or FuFriends.

Odd question, seems to fit well here. For setting raid targets, how do folks normally do it? Just keybindings in WoW? A mod that provides a simpler interface? Macros on a toolbar? Found one mod that looks like it would do the trick, but it hasn't been updated in a long while. Wasn't sure if it was a basic part of some of the raid mods out there as well.

Was actually asked to do it in one of my recent pugs, but had no idea how to best do so. Didn't matter anyway since the hunters went nuts with their pets and it seemed like we were overgeared/leveled anyway.

One other thing I thought I'd note here for any other Mac users out there. Since the normal Ace updater is Windows only, I was asking some of my friends who are also Mac users and play about mod management. One of them recommended wowmatrix, which has worked very well for me so far. Only had one issue with it thinking AutoProfitX was not installed, which turned out to be a defect. The developer had it fixed in less than a day. YMMV, but it's worked well for me.

BTW, I got my raid target question answered in game the other day, and now feel like an idiot for not knowing you could right click on mobs to set the targets...

Rawr, so true. However, there is a version of Ace Updater for Mac being worked on, so I'd toss the suggestion of testing it for Mac when it's released.

Sorry for the thread rez. Question for the FuBar users though, is there any mod to get my keyring to show up in FuBar? I'm using the plug in that shows how many bag slots I have left, and opens/closes all bags with a click, but it doesn't include the keyring. I'm also using Autobar, on which I've turned off the default bag icons, so now I have no way to access the keyring at all. Every time I come across a chest and need my skeleton key I have to pull up the config screen, enable the default bag bar, open the keyring, use the key, then reverse all of the above. Rather time consuming in the midst of an instance!

There's got to be a better way, and I'm sure in my noobness I'm just missing it. Any help?

Thanks

Because of the way keys work, I doubt there's a way to do it in Fubar. Key ring space is unlimited (scales with keys), so there's no reason to see how many spots you have left, and since right clicking the locked item will typically cause your character to use the right key on said item, I doubt they saw any point in creating that functionality.

If it were me, I'd just bind the skeleton key to a bar or to the keyboard. That'd probably be the easiest workaround.

The simplicity of that solution is staggering. Why on earth didn't I think of that?

I guess I was so focused on the keyRING, I didn't even think about just accessing the KEY itself.

Thanks, that fixes my problem perfectly.

I suppose you might be happy with the default bags, but if you use the addon called Baggins you can use the FuBar plugin called BagginsFu and get essentially the effect you are asking for.

Baggins lets you configure the size, shape, name, and number of bag windows you have as well was what categories of items can be displayed in each bag window. You can also configure which windows open automatically and then use the BagginsFu left click menu to open other windows when you want them. So what I have is a number of logically defined windows and categories that all open automatically, plus windows for ammo and my key ring which only open when I select them from the BagginsFu menu.
