Well, I'm slacking a little on this so my apologies up front.

Some interesting episodes so far;
1. Ang wakes up
2. Dance, Dance in the Fire Nation
3. The Painted Lady - Cool, mystical episode
4. Sokka's Master

We have a nice little run of 10 new episodes to start the season. That should be about half of the episodes for this 'book'.

Some of the pacing is throwing me off a tad, especially in "Sokka's Master". And I'd gripe about some of the character relationship but then I hit myself in the head with a brick and remind myself this show is literally for people half my age, if not younger.

It's sad, touching, and a little funny, the way they're getting around Mako's death and subsequent inability to voice Iroh. He just doesn't talk.

Maybe, they're having Iroh get all buff because they found somebody who could almost do Mako's voice but it sounds like a strong guy version of it. I would really hope not but for some reason that situation makes me laugh.

I miss Iroh talking, he always had the best lines.

They do have a new voice actor for Uncle. Mako in seasons 1 & 2, Greg Baldwin onwards. He's Jack M. Crazyfish in Spongebob Squarepants. His voice can also be heard on numerous video games, such as Rainbow 6: Lockdown, F.E.A.R. and Bioshock, among others. He has been a student of Mako's voice since 1977, when he first heard the cast album of Stephen Sondheim's Pacific Overtures.

Obviously, noone's going to be Mako, but they've got my trust, so I assume he'll do at the very least, a bang-up job.

I agree. It was a little odd. The fabricated a sword in hours after what I thought was a long arduous affair. Still, its the first episode of the season where some of the old magic bubbled to the surface.

And the fact that he became "adept" with a sword in just one day of training didn't bother you? It's a kid's show so I try to check my brain at the door.

Greg Baldwin actaully did Iroh in a scene in Tales of Bai Sing Se. I think they were trying him out and he passed. But the hard part of Mako's voice is that much of its depth probably came from his esophogeal cancer. That raspy wisdom will be hard to reproduce. I'm just pleased as punch they didn't write him out after Mako died.

Again ... noted and agreed. It was easier to accept the mastering with Ang than with Sokka and swordsmanship.

Well, I think Sokka didn't really master it, just gained the techniques needed to master it over time. I mean, how many times did he almost get killed by his master in that last battle? He spent most of the time running away.

Another good episode. Don't the writers know that villains are supposed to be two-dimensional? It makes them much easier to hate that way.

Really? I thought this episode was terrible (aside from the nice fight towards the end).

I was actually impressed with Greg Baldwin. He got it mostly right. Anywho, Roku's awesome.

I really liked the last one. Backstory is always nice and I kinda wondered how the fire nations stance really jived with the last avatar.

I am still waiting for the curve-ball ending in book 4.

It's a shame The Puppetmaster didn't air earlier here, it makes for a terrific Halloween episode.

Really. That's the best episode of the season so far. But then again, I always enjoy hollow victories. This is probably why I enjoy so few hero tales these days, because I want to see the protagonist get dragged through the muck before they win.

So, that episode was fantastic. I loved Zuko standing up to his father. And we finally get some advancement of the whole Katara/Aang thing. I realize this is a show on Nickelodeon, but something very, very bad needs to happen to Azula. And I think Sokka needs to do it. She's perfectly dispicable. At least it answers the question of what happened to the other Kyoshi warriors. Looking foreward to the next string of episodes.

The continuity is actually one thing I appreciate about the show. They never really "forget" a plot point and let it slip through. The balloons, the Kyoshi warriors, it all comes back eventually.

Well, the Day of Black Sun aired last PM. Not too bad. Obviously, the ecilipse hit before Ang was ready so you knew it wasn't going anywhere. Still, nice character development. Uncle finally broke out of jail. A possible love interest was added for him as well. Zuko turned and is about to join the avatar who he is related to. Suki is still alive and a prisoner ... somewhere.

So, Ang now needs to focus on fire bending and getting that damn chakra unblocked (I hate it when that happens).

last nights episode caught me off guard. I was so busy this week I didn't even notice that there was a special this week. As for Azula, I agree that some needs to happen to that girl. A part of me kind of wanted sokka to cut her(lob an arm or hand off) then ask the question about suki but its a kids show so that would be a bit much. It was good to see that they didnt try to smash in the various events into a single episode and took the time to give it the proper length it needed. Definitely looking forward to the continuation of this series.

Seems like they tie up a lot of loose threads in the story lines in the final episode of each season. Seasons 1 and 2 tended to meander around a bit only to come together after the the big 'double' episode. Season one had the Winter Solstice and Season Two had the Library and Appa kidnapping wrapped up together. Also, keep in mind that the last two episodes of the season have traditionally aired together; back to back.
