Running Down a Dream
Wednesday, October 17th, 2007 - 10:24am
I watched 4 hours of awesomeness last night in the form of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, documentary style. The film was done extremely well starting with the bands early days and moving all the way to the present. It was really interesting to see the numerous ways that Tom Petty has influenced radio, video, and music in general. Also, the documentary is set up so that you get to see some excellent live performances of some great songs. I recommend this to any music fan.

The name of the documentary is "Running Down a Dream"?
I'll look for it, Tom Petty is surprisingly smart, but he has that sort of "lost surfer", "Yeah, maaan" look going on. He's pretty cool.

If you really want to capture the entire Tom Petty experience, you have to check out his cameo in The Postman.

Are Tom Petty and Dwight Yoakum brothers? Seperated at birth? The resemblance is creepy.

Looks like it's a Best Buy exclusive?

Ugh. My wife and I like Tom Petty (we own the Playback box set already), but we've also sworn never to buy anything from Best Buy after many bad experiences. Time to find out how "exclusive" this exclusive is going to be. My hope is that other venues might carry it after a while.

I'm gonna have that song stuck in my head the rest of the day. Dammit.

That song has such a great video.
