The game launches at midnight PST, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Impressions (use spoiler tags as needed), anticipations and gyrations can be made here.

Yeah, it's scary. I'm staring into the abyss right now, and it's staring into me, which I think is kind of a dick move on the abyss's part. - Nyles

Every delayed release has been during the day. I'm pretty confident it'll unlock on time because everything will be ready and waiting.

I'm definitely going to try and stay up until midnight. I have a lot of work to do before now and then, so it's good to know I'll have something to do while I wait.

Yeah, blows that if I had bought it at Wal-mart or EB in the area I could be playing it three hours earlier... but I've got a lesson on the American Revolution and John Locke tomorrow, so I don't really have the ability to stay up that late... gonna have to wait till I get back from school tomorrow to play it. Luckily, the next Thursday and Friday are review games and a test. So after school tomorrow, I'll have plenty of time to play both Portal and Episode 2.

I re-played all of HL2: Ep 1 during the week for a memory refresher and can't wait for Ep2. If you guys start now, you could probably finish it before the unlock at 12 PST.

Currently on a gaming hiatus until the fall.

After the "unlock" of TF2, I'm never staying up again for anything. You just end up playing way too late and don't really even enjoy the thing.

I guess it's time to finally finish Episode 1. Not really in a rush to play 2, although I'm sure I'll absolutely love it.

Mex: I have a good feeling about this one though, now that they finally have a timer. If they don't get it right after this, then I don't know what Valve's problem is.

IGN's review of the Orange Box is up. 9.5/10.

"There's nothing else available on any console like The Orange Box. Though you could argue that Half-Life 2 is old news by now, there are still four components of the Box brand new to consoles. That so much great content is offered at the standard single-game price is astonishing. Playing through Half-Life 2 again and then continuing on through Episodes One and Two is like batting with the '27 Yankees. These are Hall of Fame titles; it doesn't get much better than this. Throw in Portal, an imaginative puzzle game with a wicked sense of humor, and Team Fortress 2, one of the few multiplayer games to get the class system right, and you have a tremendous package. And all on one disc. While Portal and TF2 may not be strong enough to stand on their own, coupled with the Half-Life titles, The Orange Box really is one of the best games ever released."

Psh, we all know Portal's where it's at anyway... I can't wait for Ep2, but until Ep3 comes out, I'm just gonna be pining for that so I can play through the whole series of Gordan Freeman adventures.

Those uptight bastards. Just for comparison, how did Halo 3 do? Because in my mind, the Orange box deserves more than 9.5, even if just for the stupid amount of quality games.

Halo 3 got a 9.5.

Team Fortress 2 (PC) got an 8.9:

"Team Fortress 2 is finally available, and it's one hell of a game. With its powerful artistic style and blazingly quick, yet accessible gameplay, it's enough to melt the icy cynicism imprisoning the hearts of even the most jaded among us. That being said, it's not the most complex shooter out there, and lacks bot support for now. Still, the game's got enough to it to last for a long while, and there's a statistics system built into Steam to help keep track of everything. Buy it, load it up and let loose. It's near-impossible to be disappointed."

Portal an 8.2:

"For 20 dollars, it may be a little pricey for what's there, but we certainly won't tell anybody not to buy Portal. We recommend picking this one up with the full Orange Box because it's hard to say no to another peek into this awesome universe and it does fit together with Episode Two."

Were Portal to leave things there, with a brand new (if you don't count Narbacular Drop) gaming mechanic, and a series of near-perfect puzzles, it would be something fairly special. But there's so much more happening in here.

GLaDOS, to name it. She's voiced by the utterly excellent Ellen McLain – a trained soprano who has appeared a few times before in Valve games. She's the voice of the Overwatch in HL2 and Episode One, and – amazingly – the stern British woman barking announcements at you throughout TF2. This lady has range.

I just finished it as well. Took a little over seven hours, compared to about six for episode 1. I expected this to be longer.
