Anyone still playing LOTRO?

My schedule has freed up a lot now and I'm going to get back into the game. Has everyone moved back to WoW?

I think there's still a few folks in LoTRO, but I'm pretty sure most folks have moved on from the GWJ fellowship to a different one.. there's a post in here somewhere about it a page or three back.

Aye, still a number of us at Eldain.com.

Great mature guild that shares a similar wave-length to GWJ.

Great time to get into the game, Book 11 is coming at the end of the month, will introduce housing, a continuation of the story line, a new 12 man raid and the first sighting of Gollum.

I'm still playing. After hitting 50 I got a little burned out and have been taking a break but am planning on logging on this week.

I finally logged on recently. I will probably be more active in November.

Anyway, when I logged on I was still in the GWJ guild, and was given the option to "commandeer" it. (Or some other word like that.)

Arrrrr! All yer guilds are belong to me!

Me..I play on Gladden, but I'm part of another guild.
I just stepped down as officer though as I'm not playing as much. It is typical for me...hit 50 and my gameplay slows down a lot. I will play more once the housing goes in.

I'm playing in the new guild, and we have 6-15 people on peak hours. Nice folks. I have a 20 Champion and a 28 LM, Brindaur and Arhad, respectively. Message me if you see me on!

Boooooooo.

I'm still hanging in there, slowly levelling and crafting, but i'm only on maybe 4 hours a week, i'm trying to be patient. However, the deluge of gaming this fall has pretty much tightened the noose on this one.

I played AC for years, and this game is developing the same long legs that one had, but without the design mistakes common to early mmos. Rich classes, good crafting, tons of quests (far more than even two or three alts could do entirely, although they will overlap at times), huge landmass to play on and interesting stories. All with monthly content updates.

I'm still there, and enjoying when I get the chance to play. I'm mostly playing with my youngest sister. I have to forgo joining any guilds for now, as she'll went to start up a guild, and my parents have asked that I ensure that her interactions with other people are kept to a minimum.

As another long time AC player, I'm glad to have my faith in Turbine finally rewarded!

Hmmm....this thread piqued my interest in this game, so I d/l'ed the trial version, and have been really really impressed with what I've seen so far. I don't like the visual style quite as much as WoW, but I love the fact that there seems to be a lot more customizability, and meaningful crafting. Also, I dig the idea of the deeds.

Looks like paid membership is imminent.

I will be playing on and off forever I think. I'm in a non-MMO phase because there are just too many other games, but I'm not going to let my sub expire, no way. Book 11 is reason enough to stick around.

I think I'm going to resub. Looks like we will have to rely on the friends list to find GWJers though. We didn't group much when everyone was on the same guild anyway.

I am ready and willing to give into temptation, having already done so once. I guess there's a timer of a month or so.

When I last usurped, I didn't realize there were still others in the guild. I had offline members toggled to hide I guess.

Anyway, I usurped. I demoted all officers who haven't logged in recently and promoted you and Trashi to officers. (Since you have logged on.) If you or Trashi want to lead, let me know. I plan to start playing again here shortly but I don't plan to be hardcore about it.

Edit: Let me rephrase that since I may have been a little subtle. Why don't you and Trashi decide who wants to be leader, and I'll pass the reins on to you?

You know, reading about Book 11, with them adding a Balrog in as a major encounter... how in the world are they supposed to top that in any future events & expansions? Balrogs are on the same scale as Gandalf, Saruman, possibly even Sauron (though obviously not Morgoth). Even Shelob is small fry next to a Balrog.

So seriously; what's left in the coming landmasses that they can top a Balrog fight with that doesn't break canon from Tolkien's stories? I don't know the additional works beyond the Hobbit/Lord of the Rings and the Silmarillon (and the latter I'm no expert on), but I just don't recall anything higher-grade than that short of what I mentioned already.

Seems to me that either that makes Balrogs quite tame as an opponent, or they're blowing one of the biggest possible player encounters way too early in the game's lifespan.

Arthas anyone?

Edit: I see a lot of the same comments about WotLK.

In a sense, that does apply. However, that's two full expansions and 3-4 years into the game (depending on release date), not an update done within the first year of release.

Additionally, as I noted, there's very little that's potentially more powerful or iconic than a Balrog for higher-grade encounters unless there's source material I'm unaware of or they intend to break canon more than they already are.

Thanks Devil, but I was really just throwing that in for fun. I'm hardly qualified to take over Emyn Ien, although I hope to make it online a bit more. Which should be easy, since a bit more than never isn't a big commitment.

Thanks for the offer though.

What about Smaug? There are dragons in Tolkein's world, unless there's already a dragon encounter I was unaware of. I never played enough to know.

I played LoTRO for a little while, and have been thinking about starting up again now that my computer is back from the dead.

Heh, qualified? I think it's more a matter of having the time to devote to it.

Personally, I don't have the time to do anything significant with the guild. My only motivation in usurping it is the clean things up a bit. If someone is active in Emyn Ien and wants the leader role, let me know.

I was under the impression he's already an encounter in the game, and that'd be anticlimatic anyway since we already know he will only truly be defeated by Eowyn.

Well, when we played the old Middle Earth Tabletop, he was always a good villain.

Well, someone just took down the Balrog for a game first, and it seems that your raid is merely assisting a first age Elf, without help of said Elf the Balrog will kill your whole raid instantly.

The new 12 man Raid zone is really fun, a few minor bugs, but challenging encounters with just the right amount of trash. Eldain made it through the first 5 bosses this week, maybe in week 2 we can make it to the Balrog.

As to blowing their wad to soon, I imagine turbine has other tricks up their sleeves, maybe this is a weaker Balrog, maybe we will see non undead dragons. There can always be fights with Nazgul, (not conclusive fights of course) something along the lines of Strider and Weathertop.
