Apologies if this is old news, but I noticed this last night, while looking through new messages in my Wii "inbox". Even though I only have 1 Wiimote for the time being, I suppose I'll request 4 to future proof myself, if/when I get more. Why would anyone just request 1?

First sentence of the page you linked:
"Nintendo is now including the Wii Remote Jacket for the Wii Remotes in all new hardware being shipped."
Do you really need seven?

If I did get some more Wiimotes, they'd be used and presumably older without jackets.

I find it odd that they let you choose 1-4. I don't see why everyone wouldn't choose 4, if even to replace old/worn ones (from skin oil) over time for just one Wiimote.
