Well, with the long, drawn-out spring to fall grind over, we turn our attention to the fun part of the baseball season: playoffs (Playoffs?!). After some last minute dramatics in the National League, the table is set. Here's the rundown (all on TBS):

American League Divisional Series

Los Angeles Angels vs. Boston Red Sox (Game 1 Wed, 6:30 ET)

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Indians (Game 1 Thurs, 6:30)

National League Divisional Series

Colorado Rockies vs. Philadelphia Phillies (Game 1 Wed, 3:00 ET)

Chicago Cubs vs. Arizona Diamondbacks (Game 1 Wed, 10:00 ET)

I'm looking for another Yanks-Sox ALCS rematch and a Phils/'Zona showdown in the NL.

The Yankees suck. Thhhhhhhhhhhhhe Yankees suck! Even if they win game three, they can't beat Sabathia and Carmona. Their bats are as limp as a Nevada state boxing commissioner.

Arizona destroys the pathetic Chicago Cubs to head to the NLCS. Last time they did that, they won the World Series.

Yankees rebound and Sabathia is not starting game 4. I guess the Indians want a game 5.

I was going to have lunch with my sister (Cubs fan) yesterday. She wanted me to make it early because of the Cubs game. I went ahead and reserved a table for 12:30 anyway.

Success!

I was a big Tony Gwynn fan when he was a player and I have tremendous respect for the man but damn, he is one god-awful announcer.

And no HD broadcasts on TBS is also poor form...hurry up and lose Yankees so we can have our postseason in HD back on Fox!

And his retirement hasn't been too kind to his waistline. He was husky before, but good lord.

TBS is in HD on DirecTV. They started carrying it about a week before the playoffs started. I agree on Tony Gwynn and will add that I think pretty much everybody involved in TBS' baseball coverage blows.

On another note .... GO INDIANS!!!

As horrible as the TBS announcing has been, they haven't yet reached the pinnacle of awfuness that Tim McCarver on Fox and Joe Morgan on ESPN are capable of.

I see it going 6-7 games, and it's too close too call.

Manny needs to stay hot, Matsuzaka needs to pitch better than he has, and JD Drew need to break his leg before game 1 for the Sox to take it.

Should be a very good series.

Feels to me like the Sox-Sox in '05, to be honest.

As I recall, that did not work out to well for the BoSox.... We'll see - if Beckett loses at Fenway, things will be ripe for a sweep.

Worked out just fine on my end.

It was good baseball, though. In fact, I think just about all the (White) Sox' postseason games that year were close, even if they won all but one of them.

It's entirely possible that game one of the ALCS will end 1-0 in 15 innings. Of course, it's entirely possible that that won't be the case as well.

Being an Indians fan, I had almost forgotten how completely nerve wracking playoff baseball can be.

I'll go so far as to say game 1 is a "must win" game for Boston.

Yes - but with the Skankees out of it, I can enjoy the games win or lose, as long as they are well played.

Agreed. I'd rather listen to Gwynn comment in his nerd voice than listen to Joe Morgan spout pompous nonsense. How does that guy still have a job after all these years of nonsensical analysis?

You know, for a game that was supposedly not sold out, those Arizona fans sure raised a big stink.

And why? It was clearly interference.

Boston comes up big in game 1, they definately have the momentum going into game 2 tonight, with Sabathia getting pounded. Cleveland does not want to go home down 2 games.

JD Drew comes in late, ground ball to 2nd. Ye gods, how I loathe him. Please please please start Elsbury in right against the righties!!!

Rockies and Sox would be an awesome World Series in my opinion. I like the players and the towns.

I played against Todd Helton in little league and in high school so it is really cool to see him do well.

Well, that was ugly. Gagne blew a close game all to sh*t. If you look at that, you have Trot Nixon, who Theo gave up to go after Nancey Drew, beating us with a single off of Theo's OTHER 2007 disaster, Eric Gagne. I like Trot, nice to see him contributing in Cleveland. He was always a gamer in Boston, but Theo never liked him. Now we have MLB's marginal employee, Drew in right.

Going to Cleveland with a split is not good. Not good at all.
