Dance Pad Suggestions?

I'm running a DDR tournament at work as a United Way fund raiser. My original PSone DDR dance pad is starting to get a bit borked so I'm on the hunt for set of new ones. I don't play enough to justify a set of metal pads, so I'm eying up the foam core ones.

eBay seems to have the best prices. A set of two 1" pads comes to about $60 with shipping, which is in my price range. Everywhere else I've looked (DDR Nation, et al) tend to be a bit pricey.

So, my questions to you, good Goodjers, are these:

Is $60 a good deal?
Any other sites I should be looking at? Bonus points for Canadian ones!
Any recommended eBay sellers?
Any recommended brands?
Anyone know a game store or company that would want to donate prizes?

Do a Guitar Hero tourney instead

But seriously, from what I've read it seems like all of the non-metal ones will break with heavy use. Buying a decent brand will probably only save you the trouble of it breaking within the first 10 minutes.

Luna and I are pretty fond of the Red Octane Ignition Pad. I don't really have any input on your other questions, other than that $60 for two pads might be getting you crappy pads. I know it can be hard to pass up a bargain, but sometimes you end up getting what you paid for, you know?

If it is for a tournament and people are not going to take too much care I would go for something cheap and reinforce it.

I have a couple of these sorry it is in spanish. I have put some hard wood below them and wrap it all. I play barefoot but if you wrap it well it could work. If not you should go for some aluminium ones, but those are more expensive.

We did Guitar Hero last year, so I wanted to switch it up a bit this time around

I'm not anticipating heavy use of the pads. We're a big company, but not so big that we'll have a 50 person tournament. I expect that we'll have 20 people at most entered (either by choice or by someone else ) in it.

Definite concur on this. DDR pads are 100% get what you pay for. I'll second the suggestion for Red Octane pads, and even if you're buying them used off eBay, it's better than cheaping out.

That's what I currently have and I am thinking of just getting two of 'em and taping them down. Sure they may get beat on, but I'd only be out 20 or 30 bux.

Hmm... it's a tough choice. If I get good pads I'd probably play a heck of a lot more DDR at home, but if I get them for the tournament they might get trashed. I think if I can get the Ignition ones for a decent price on eBay I'll do that, but if I can't I'll just get the cheappy roll up ones for the tourny and then use them at home until they wear out...

Maybe next year. The humiliation factor is much higher when you have to play DDR on a stage in front of the company. The better the humiliation factor, the more people are willing to pay to put people in that position. And the more people pay, the more money United Way gets
