The purpose of this thread is specifically to share and discuss Halo 3 file share media (screenshots, films, gametypes, etc.) only, and not for general Halo 3 discussion. To keep bandwidth reasonable, please post links or linked thumbnails rather than full-sized images.

About other file share methods:

  • Bungie.net - We have a GWJ Bungie.net Group that ZeroKFE was kind enough to setup and you can see everyone's file shares through it, but the only way to see if someone has anything new or noteworthy would be to check each members' file share individually or to post to the Bungie.net forum for our group, but that would mean yet another forum for people to check.
  • XBox Live - Sharing through XBL essentially creates a nudge to one or more XBL Friends (whom you must specify each time) and even then it only says "look at my whole file share".

Double Headshot
A shot from my beam rifle passed through the heads of two adjacent jackal snipers.

Here in the HUD screenshot you can see that there is sadly no bonus for a double headshot. The 90 points breaks down as:
Jackal Sniper (Specialist) Base Points: 20
Heroic Dificulty (2x Base): +20
Headshot: (1.25x Base): +5
Unit Score: 45
x2 units = 90 points

Here are the two jackals mid-fall.

Here they are again pulling their own rifle triggers in their death throes.

Also, to help get the ball rolling here, if you enjoy watching people you know abuse people you don't, you might have fun watching the video "hammer spam" that is currently on my file share. I think that was pretty much the best I've done in a matchmade game so far. If only I could play that well all the time.

Apparently The Banshee's arty shot homes, but in this case not quite enough.

When Zero, Schmoona, and Chiggie start passing around the Spartan laser, somehow a marine gets his hands on it. No good ever comes of that.

Using a Laser to take out a Ghost while riding shotgun is an overkill, a waste of resources, a difficult proposition. It's also the sh't.

Last night we tried rocket race, a soon to be great addition to Zombie night. That's Me and Chris about to tear up Zero and Schmoona.

Great shots everyone I wish you could have did this with Halo 2. I had several rumble pit games on Midship where I won the match with 25 kills with NO shots fired.. all plasma grenades, beatdowns and surprisingly only two or three sword kills. I did manage to take screenshots of the stats on bungie.net for that though... I'll post those when I get home if anyone wants to see.

I've got last evening's early rocket race on Sandtrap (the one we played right after setting up the Isolation Zombie map) film:

Also up there is one hell of a big team slayer clip from last night I'm particularly proud of- to make a long story short my tool of destruction was the ghost with 15 splatters.

For some reason it won't display my screenshots normally, so I had to add them to my fileshare

There's a few of Zero and I having some rocket race fun from that game.

Speaking of rocket race, here's a series of shots of a particularly awesome moment from the game shidarin just linked to.

(Click to the the hi-res versions.)

In my file share you will find a film clip of just that moment. You'll also find a full save film of an earlier match of rocket race, where Luna was my cohort on team Two in the Pink. We didn't win, but there were still quite a few awesome moments.

By the by, I've added the maps and game types for Rocket Race and Pirates to my file share for those of you who don't have them yet.

Yeah, in a FAQ that Bungie put up yesterday, they said that their servers are having a hard time keeping up with the volume of data being sent up to them, so the auto population of screenshots and matchmaking stats is taking many hours to complete. From what I've seen on my profile, both are taking anywhere from 12 to 24 hours to update. However, as you say, the good news is that you can get stuff up immediately by just uploading it to your file share.

Speaking of the file share, the FAQ also says that they have temporarily disabled subscribing to "Bungie Pro" but that it will be back shortly. Bungie Pro gives you 24 slots rather than 6 on your file share, and ups the total space from 25 MB to 250 MB. It will take a while to use up that space given the small file sizes, but I'm already quite glad to have the extra slots available to me, as I'm using the majority of them at the moment.

Yes. However, there are a few differences when you are viewing campaign games. For technical reasons related to how campaign maps are loaded and managed in memory, you can't record clips of step backward in time, as you can when viewing multiplayer videos.

I couldn't find an explanation of the pirate gametype anywhere. One post said rockets blast anyone who touches the sand. I couldnt tell if he was trying to be funny or not. What's the objective? Team deathmatch? Capture the flag? VIP?

Not quite sure I understand that. I would like to replay a particular scene myself and my friends went through last night (ended up with me tea bagging a tank). Is that possible?

I have yet to view or record anything yet. Could you clarify what that means?

Yeah. When you view a multiplayer video, you can skip backwards in time as well as pause time, go in slow motion, fast forward, move the camera whereever you want, and take screenshots. Also, you can "record" a small segment of your video and save it out as a separate clip, so that people don't have to wade through your whole video to find the cool moments.

When you watch a campaign video, you can do all of that stuff except rewind and record clips. Both of those things are not possible because of the way the game loads the map data and manages everything going on in the game during campaign mode.

So, if I understand it correctly: I can replay the video from last night (from some unknown point) but I am unable to rewind, or fast forward it? I select the video and it simply plays through?

You can fast foward, just not rewind, or record out a small segment of the video.

Heh, I guess I'm doing a poor job of explaining it. Thankfully, Bungie has a guide on the topic.

You did a great job explaining it . Thanks for the info. I was hoping to be able to control the video a bit more and record a clip to show some of my other friends. Besides the teabagging of the tank, at multiple points last night one of my friends was simply hanging back in fear while we charged on ahead and cleaned house. I wanted to record those moments as a hall of shame for him

That armor is sweet. I was fiddling with my character last night. Do you unlock the other armor types in the campaign mode?

There are two Pirate gametypes that bungie made, both of which are played on a custom version of Sandtrap called "The Seven Sea." Both gametypes and the map can be found in my file share.

Pirate Ships is a territories games. There are two territories, one on each elephant. Each team spawns in control of one, and the round ends when one team controls both. So the "pirate" aspect come in when you try to board and take over the other team's ship. However, what makes it particularly interesting is that any time you are not on one of the ships, your shields will quickly drain to nothing, so one or two shots will kill you. Also, since you are pirates, the only weapons you have are swords and pistols, and the "cannons" (turrets) on your ship.

Pirate Sharks is an infection game. The pirates are the same as they are in pirate ships in terms of weapon starts, and I think they also have the draining shields when off the ship (but I'm not sure about that). The sharks have shotguns and increased speed, and since it is infection, when a pirate is killed they become a shark.

There is info on armor unlocks in the articles section of the GWJ bungie.net group.
