Austin Slap & Tickle, Nov 3

Time:
11/03/2007 - 12:00 - 11/04/2007 - 12:00
Description:
'Bout fucking time, huh? First a 1,500 lb tree limb fell on the house, then the pool turned a deep green and undead frogs made it their home, so I thought we'd never get our shit together for this little party. Well, the stars have finally aligned for the Austin Slap & Tickle! It will happen on Saturday, Nov 3 and we think it will be worth the wait. "But I've fallen for your empty promises before, souldaddy!!! What's so different this time?" Guitar Hero 3 will be present with a 100" high-def projector, concert quality speakers, and a smoke machine and stage lights. See picture above. Halo 3 LAN party with at least 4 Xbox 360s, possibly 6 or even 8. If you haven't been to a Halo LAN party then you don't know Halo. BBQ and Beer. Our friends used to hold weekly cook-offs where 4-5 good chiefs would make master-works and let the rest of us eat for free. We've got 3 of those folks lined up right now, plenty of food for all. Plus I believe a local brewery will be providing the beer. Imagine this in 2 phases, laid back BBQ + Halo 3 starting at noon and going on all afternoon. I've invited families complete with child units so that you will have someone to talk to other than pasty-faced male gamers. There is a pool plus a large backyard shaded by a 300-year old tree (half of one, anyway) for non-gaming activities. If you need to leave in the early evening to return home you can still see and do plenty. Then at party time, 9-ish, we'll fire up the Guitar Hero "stage" and get really pissing drunk. *I'm hoping that any goodjers not present will challenge us to online Guitar Hero 3 battles. You are welcome to stay the night, the equipment will still be there in the morning and people will most likely still be playing on Sunday. There will be a large group of people invited, far more than local goodjers although the entire event is thrown in your honor. My World of Warcraft guild, Red Hand of Terra, will be coming, as will lots of Blizzard GMs, our circle of professional musician/friends, and the brainiacs from Apple. Please PM me for the address and my phone number. Make sure to tell me if you want to spend the night. I'm sorry, but if you're brand new to GWJ.com, I'll probably ask you to wait until the next party, I need to get to know you first. There will be plenty of online games to do that! Please bring any 360 controllers if you own them (talk to me before you run off and buy one, though), and if you can bring a 360 and/or a copy of Halo 3, please let me know. Hope to see you there!

You're referring to sleeping over, not attending the party, correct? I say you let them come anyway. Just put them in Clint's room.

Oh, and count me (and mine) in.

Okay that's not the day after Halloween, should be safe to travel. I'll see if I can make it.

The Family Hemi is in. We'll stay in a hotel, though. No disrespect, but a 19 month old is like nitroglycerin. Very volatile and prone to blowing up. I'll PM you for the address.

Sounds like a hell of a damn party. If I didn't have my nephew's birthday that weekend and a friend's wedding in Vegas two weeks later, I'd seriously consider making the trip.

Virtual goodjers are totally welcome to party with us. You'll have amble opportunity to play Halo 3 and/or Guitar Hero 3 with the guests, both games are online.

Well, the wife has a test that Saturday. I should know for sure if she can take the test early sometime next week. If she can't, I might be going the solo route.

Souldaddy, you got room on the floor for me? I'm housebroken and stopped chewing on the furniture a long time ago.

I did remember you, Edwin, but Kilgore didn't have any free weekends in October Come anyway, damn it! Want me to ask my travel-agent aunt if she can work a deal for you? Isn't Mystik Violet in Florida, too? Bring her with you!

f*ck yeah! Let me know, we probably know people in any department at UT that you would be interested in, can probably swing a nice tour.

It goes without saying that I would love to have you come. So I said it. Can you pull the "dying grandmother" thing?

This means there will DEFINITELY be a Gears game. And 100% more ass kicking fun.

Anyone at Hemi's Slap & Tickle that I went to has an open invitation. Please invite him. Glad you're coming, too!

Yes. Where I can put you, there's a little bell that the dog uses to let us know he wants out... j/k we've got plenty of places to sleep, including a futon and big couches.

If I can figure out how, we might even have a live web cam. I'd love to have some sort of virtual-goodjer presence. After all, at Hemi's LAN party it wasn't THAT much different then your typical night on Live, I'm playing a game, looking at a computer screen, and hearing Fedaykin taunt my manhood in one ear.

Sure, is Sigsbee coming too? If I've got the Fam, I really only have one spot in the car. It's not looking like I will, but I don't know for sure.

It looks like I'll be flying solo, but I don't have 100% confirmation. If I am, we can do the carpool. I probably can't leave until around 11:30-Noon, though.

Let's keep it to 360s. We can always play TF2 on the 360. I'm just worried about the partying/drinking later, don't want your nice PC knocked off a flimsy plastic conference table or anything. Besides, at Hemi's last LAN party we ended up playing a single game anyway.

I earned the tag "Cat Herder." You try to get 9-10 PC gamers to agree on more than one or two titles in different genres.

A LAN party is more easily done when there's not 50+ people there, many of whom are not LAN party type gamers not to mention "families complete with child units."
