Bad movies that every person should watch
I'm a fan of movies that are so awesomely bad you can't turn away, including grindhouse flicks and "exploitation" films (like Dolemite).
The recently released KISSology dvd set features the 1979 made-for-tv movie "Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park," known in this European version as "KISS in Attack of the Phantoms". If you ever wondered where inspiration for Family Guy's Christmas special subplot, "KISS saves Christmas" came from, this movie is it. First half of the movie is bad acting by bad actors, second half is pure KISS cheesy goodness. The highlight for me is when the robotic version of KISS takes the stage and mangles the song, "Hotter than Hell"; their riot-inciting lyrics are "Rip and Destroy." Gene Simmons breathes demonfire, Paul Stanley beams lasers from his Starchild Eye, and Ace Frehley (not the real Ace, an understudy) does a bunch of spacey teleporting crap.
The Thing with Two Heads, Motel Hell, and of course Ed Wood's Plan 9 from Outer Space are on the list, but I'm looking for more.
What else would you add?
"I'm for the guy who can tell the lion from the lamb." -Charles K.

Running Man. Heh, just kidding there RM.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space comes to mind.
All this science I don't understand. It's just my job five days a week.
I loved that KISS movie.
I am an aficianado of bad cinema. The ones that are only funny when you are hammered or if you are several days short of sleep. You know the films...
Some of my most embarassing favorites:
"Battle Beyond the Stars"
It is a heinous piece of bad pseudo-sci-fi, with John-boy as the lead in it and the ship had a female voice and "tracts of land". Oh, and George Peppard as a "space cowboy" (don't get me started....) It just doesn't get much better and worse than this.

"Spaceship"
This one is hard to get ahold of, but SOOO worth it. The legendary Leslie Nielsen is joined by Cindy Williams, Gerrit Graham, and Bruce Kimmel in a piece of bad camp that can only be experienced, not described. If you see it, don't miss out on Ben Vereen's rendition of "I Want to Eat Your Face" sung by an eight foot red slimy alien monster. We wouldn't want to appear in any way...ominious......

--------------------------------
"Krull"
Who can forget that really cool five-bladed knife? And those really bad striped pants!
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/Krull-1011727/
--------------------------------
"Beastmaster"
A hunky young man in a leather thong travels through the desert battling a wide array of mad sorcerers and bulky swordsmen as he attempts to avenge the destruction of his village. Hmmmmmmm. Wonder where we heard this plot before? On the other hand it is the highly under-rated-for-camp Marc Singer in that fuzzy butt-floss, and he is carrying trained rats in his backpack.

--------------------------------------
"Legend"
Ridley Scott's attempt at fantasy. This one actually is a great film. It's only real tarnish in my opinion is the casting of Tom Cruise in the lead. Of course, he doesn't say much, and on the plus side Tim Curry steals the show from him in the most criminal fashion as Darkness which helps. The new DVD special edition has some great documentaries on how the film was made, too.

Well, now that I have completely demolished any respect anyone might have had for me, I'm going to stop now.

The Quick and the Dead is hilariously bad and I love it for that very reason.
Other movies that do the same thing for me:
Deep Blue Sea - Samual L. Jackson's last breath in the movie was almost the last breath of my life. I could not stop the laughter for so long I worried I might never breathe again.
Face/Off - So.. so ridiculous. And the way Travolta and Cage parody each other's overacting is just too funny.
I'm sure there's more but I'm having trouble coming up with any.

Excellent call on Battle Beyond the Stars, momgamer.
I think I saw a Zardoz shot of Sean Connery in the pics thread last week.

Even though it's one of my favorite movies of all time, I'll add Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Hard Target, or any other Jean Claude Van Damme movie.
Plan 9 from Outer Space is an odd nut- people say you must watch it to understand bad cinema, but I can never watch this movie for more than 40 minutes, it's that bad. It's not even a must-watch bad movie, it's just terrible.
MaxShrek .. Do it first, do it yourself, and keep on doing it.
Horror Vacui
Were you in my drama class?
I love that movie!
Mine would be Desperado. From the first time I saw the preview, I was hooked and just had to see the movie. I really enjoy over the top action mixed with comedy, but throw in some catchy music and I'm sold.

Hell Comes to Frogtown
I read the synopsis, saw this photo and had to track it down on eBay.
Totally worth it.

How can you say this is a bad movie when there is a naked Salma Hayek included?
My additions: Snakes on a Plane and Starship Troopers

I wouldn't say it was bad, but several of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes weren't exactly glowing. I loved the movie, in fact, I thought it was great!

Commando is the greatest bad action movie of the eighties.
Coming in a close second would be American Ninja.

There was a super bad David Carradine movie that was some kind of SciFi remake of Yojimbo. The unit of currency they used was a Terak or something, which prompted my drunken fraternity buddies to label the movie "A Fistful of Teraks".

Ice Pirates. Space herpes, ftw.
The Last Starfighter. Oh so cheezy, but still watchable.

It's not Salma Hayek. She wouldn't do the nude scene so they got a body double for her. Note that whenever you see the goods you don't see her face.
Sidenote: I actually really enjoy Desperado. It's a good fun movie.

Ooh, another one of my favorites!
Funny because it came up in our lunch conversation today when we were talking about the big plastic cases that VHS tapes came in, and I mentioned still having the big plastic case this one came in (with the VHS in it of course).
My wife's favorite movie, which I had never seen or heard of until we were married, lol.

Split Second. So bad yet so very very good.

Desperado is fantastic.
How about, let's see... Toxic Avengers is too well-known.... How about Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town (just awe-inspiring), and really anything from Troma Productions.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Robocop yet.
Blood of Heroes, that's gotta rate.
But my favorite bad movie currently is John Water's "A Dirty Shame". While his oeuvre seems to consist entirely of excellent "bad" movies, this one is hard to find on tv, and so many people have missed it. Tracey Ullman, Chris Isaak, Selma Blair, Johnny Knoxville and famous Baltimore Movie Minx, Mink Stole. Highly recommended.
"Sometimes I go around saying, 'Kommisar Paulson has seized the commanding heights of the economy!'" - Paul Krugman, asked if recent changes to banking are socialistic.
Is AOD of the same caliber as Killer Klowns? I'd have to say no. Army of Darkness is a camp masterpiece. I'd add Manster and Zoltar. Also, it would be too easy to add any of the movies lampooned on MST3k.
"Now witness the awesome lethality of the Alan Parsons Project!"

I'm sorry I forgot to mention the Dolph Lungren classic Masters of the Universe

I loved that movie.
What about Flight of The Navigator?
Three words is all I need:
Evil Alien Conquerors
A movie so awesomely bad that Tori Spelling wouldn't allow her name in the credits
