Those who are high enough level can see a trainer to use the skill.
I also got blocked out this week too. Something about GAMERS being in the title of the link didn't set well with the "powers that be". I was wondering if there was an offline reader or something I could use to download pages so that my connections to the internet would be less. It's like they took my crackpipe away
I am not alone! Work blocks this site. I hate blocking software. Youtube is blocked...but if I put in the IP address it works. What kind of sense does that make?
And it does seem to be the word "game". Octopusoverlords isn't blocked even though they are almost exactly like here in terms of content.
What really pisses me off is that they pretend it is about goofing off at non-work related sites, but ESPN isn't blocked. What freaking "business" reason is there for that? The truth is that middle aged managers like looking up sports news so it isn't blocked. However the total time wasted at work on ESPN dwarfs the amount of time spent at gaming sites. Still you can't block the site the boss wants to go to.
It is just a complete crock.
BTW what is the IP address here? I do an nslookup and I only get a "non authoritative" answer which doesn't work.

Luckily I haven't been blocked yet, but FTP is blocked for everyone. I usually go the remote desktop route if I need to access anything that's blocked.
All this work blocking sucks. If anyone can think of any ways for us as webmasters to circumvent Websense and other programs through coding, design or redirects do let me know.

Quoted for truth. If people here want to catch-up on sports or LOST episodes, it's a click away. But anything game related is blocked. I don't know how this site is still unblocked. One of the firewall guys in Ottawa must be a member...
On your home PC right click on My Computer and go to Properties.
Select the remote tab.
Put a check in the bottom section that says "Allow user to connect remotely to this computer".
Next, at home, go into your router, find out what your 'outside' facing IP address is that you're issued from your ISP. You could also get swankier and set up a Dynamic DNS type thing but all you need is the IP address. Right it down and take to work.
While you're in the router, go to area where you 'Forward Ports' or 'Port Forwarding'. You want to forward port 3389 to the INTERNAL IP of your XP Pro machine. If your router needs a 'range' just put in 3389 twice.
Now comes the part where you find out if work is blocking Remote Desktop via the firewall. If you're on XP at work the Remote Desktop Client is already installed usually but if you're on Win2K you'll need to download/install the remote desktop client. Anyways, run the remote desktop client, when it asks what machine to connect to, put in the IP address I said to write down (hint it's not a 192.168. address).
Some reasons this may fail:
You're account at home doesn't have a password, I'm pretty sure you've got to have a password for this to work.
You may have done something wrong in the router config or your IP may actually change.
Your work may actually block RDP from inside to out, a few places do this but I've seen more that don't.
Do you ever walk alone like a drifter in the dark?

Websense, as an application blocks based on Domain name and IP (in some cases) provided by humans who classify the content. It is up the the company using websense to choose what classifications are permitted. What is funny, is that about a year ago websense classified this site as games, then suddenly it was not, then this week it was again. Fickle humans. One thing that could circumvent this issue for a time would be an alternative DNS name and website structure (gwj.com?) that does not have games in the name or the original website in the title. The trick would be to ensure that every HTTP GET does not contain gamerswithjobs.com otherwise no dice. However, eventually the content itself would be classified and we would be back to square one. What we need is to find someone on the site who works for websense, and bribe them for reclassification.

Alternately, get a shell account somewhere, grab PuTTY, and read the site with links2.
I am only about half joking.
That particular company just recently reclassified this website in their DB. Hence we are blocked at work as well.
