Talk about miscasting. He'd be perfect for the part of the robot.

Hm, "Gort, Klaatu Barrada Nikto" must actually translate to "Gort dude! I die. It's bogus, but don't break the Earth or anything, or my dad is totally going to send me to military school!"
Pure crap.

I wonder what other classic Scifi movies we're going to see resurrected (aka butchered)... Nicole Kidman just starred in the fifth Body Snatchers remake that I can remember. Will Smith's got that Last Man on Earth remake. War of the Worlds has had quite a few interpretations. I guess that leaves Them! and Attack of the 50 ft Woman.
I think John Carpenter's The Thing is the only modern remake to actually be decent.

I just realized they remade "Them!" a few years ago already. I think it was called Eight Legged Freaks, and other than the hot actress in it, I can't remember much else.

Last Man on Earth was an adaptation of the novel I am Legend, which is what Will Smith's movie is supposedly directly based on. Also, Heston's The Omega Man was another adaptation/remake of the story.
They would have been able to pull that off if they had a camera on Lindsey Lohan when she was rampaging through Hollywood in her SUV.

That was spiders not ants.. but it was very campy and the actress is very pleasing to the eye.

I'd be up for an Attack of the Killer Tomatoes remake. That just has CGI blockbuster written all over it. What are you waiting for Hollywood? I think Pauly Shore is available to star in it.
Mr T broke the speed of light in the A-Team van because he wanted to prove that quantum physics was a bunch of Jibba Jabba.
Well I can handle Keanu in some things, but it is darn near impossible in my mind to do any better the Michael Rennie. This is a classic!
One not mentioned yet, but could be viable for a remake is, 'Forbidden Planet'. Introduction of Robby the Robot and a great production for the mid 50's (I think won Academy Award for special affects or something). But again, Walter Pigeon was great as the scientist, and Anne Francis and Lelie Neilsen were good too. But it's Robby the Robot that was totally 'the thing'.(and this is another all time Classic)

Dina Meyer. Useless movie/actor/actress knowledge for the win.
She was also hot in Starship Troopers.

I didn't think it was Dina Meyer... Just asked a coworker and it was Kari Wuhrer.
Google Images for the NSFW win I might add.
So... what we were talking about again?

"This apocalypse sh*t just got real."
What I would like to see and it is a bit cheesy is the old Disney SciFi 'The Black Hole' remade. I grew up in the 80's and yes that did kind of freak me out with the floating robot with the spinning blade hands.

I loved the blackhole! My fav of course is the evil character goes to hell and is trapped in his robot very very very cool movie. I think the could do alot with movie if they where to update it.

Hey, Ive got an idea!
Why not rerelease the original in theatres and save yourself a whole bunch of cash!

Aw, man. I've never seen The Black Hole. Thanks for the spoiler. Thanks a lot!

New information from a blog on FirstShowing.net:
'...
Since news of The Day the Earth Stood Still being remade arrived in February, the buzz has been rather negative. No one wants to see it get remade, even with the right director or cast. However, another couple of great actors have joined that may spice things up a bit - Jennifer Connelly and Kathy Bates. They join alongside of Keanu Reeves as Klaatu and director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose). Is this sounding any better yet or is still sounding like an unnecessary remake?
Connelly will play Helen Benson, an employee of the United States Department of Commerce who meets Klaatu, which was portrayed by Patricia Neal in the original. Production will start in December up in Vancouver. The remake's screenplay was originally written by Ryne Douglas Pearson (Mercury Rising) with another draft by David Scarpa (The Last Castle) recently. The writers are both rather inexperienced and the director isn't exactly a legend either, which could present a problem for this remake.
Of all the big remakes, sequels, or franchises arriving in 2008 and 2009, this one has the least amount of buzz. For as classic as the original is, I would expect there to be more interest, but I guess everyone is just expecting this to be so bad and so unneeded that it'll flop right off the bat. Even with Jennifer Connelly and Kathy Bates, I don't think anyone's expectations are changing.

Ugh...TDTESS is a classic, and as relevant today as it ever was. Nothing good can come of this. Anyone know who's been slated to direct this?
Up next...Citizen Kane remake!
They should change the title to, "The Day The Earth Stood Still and Then Exploded Because It Was Going Less Than 55 Miles Per Hour."
NOTE: This is not a doodle bug.
Spore
They will make the movie theme something about corporate greed and American imperialism ala Manchurian Candidate and Stepford Wives remakes, or better yet something about global warming lol. You think Hollywood would learn you can't remake PERFECT movies.

I'd be willing to bet the idea started with someone thinking, "I wish people today would all watch The Day the Earth Stood Still." From that perspective, it's a little harder to disagree.
Within the context of parody I can somewhat tolerate the way you write.
