On the whole, Corruption takes advantage of the Wii's biggest strength (with its unique controls), and minimizes its greatest weakness (through astounding art direction), while otherwise maintaining or improving upon the high standards and overall polish the series is known for. No predictions for six years down the road this time, just one for this fall: load a fresh pair of batteries into the controller, dust off the Wii, and surrender a week of your life to Corruption -- you won't be sorry.

I call it the best game on Nintendo's console. It is clear from the moment you pick up the controller that Prime 3 was developed exclusively for Wii. Not only do the new controls respond quicker and with more precision than any dual-analog-helmed FPS ever created, but the gesture system works brilliantly, too. Meanwhile, the title delivers everything a Metroid fan could hope for, including spectacular environmental puzzles, epic boss fights and intense combat, all wrapped up in a package that spans multiple worlds and is filled with re-traversal exploration.

Got this from GAF. Thought it would be a good start here for the two of us who will be playing this game.

The Wii control style was enough to allow me to get some enjoyment from Red Steel (and even improved RE4). Can't wait to actually play a good first person game. Gotta finish BioShock first.

I promised myself I wouldn't get this game until I finished Echoes. Stop wearing down my resolve!

If I had a Wii I'd be all over this, as a huge Metroid fan.
Why don't I have a Wii? It just hasn't been a priority for my restricted budget yet.
I do look forward to getting one eventually!
Zing!
That last review was pretty effusive, particularly about the control system for a shooter. I've had minor exposure to shooters on the Wii and 360, and so far I like pointing with the wiimote way more than moving the joystick.
I've played the original Prime, but not Echoes. Is playing Echoes a requirement to get the most out of Corruption's story?

I can't answer for sure, not having started Corruption, but they were made out to be a contiguous story. Echoes is pretty solid, from what I've played so far.

Nice. Good to see lots of positive reviews. Can't wait to pick this one up.

Looking forward to it... right after Super Paper Mario.

I am so glad I managed to finish up Bioshock this weekend. Now I can buy MP3 on release day

I didn't finish the first Metroid Prime, but I really want to play with this one, if only to dust off my languishing Wii.

Playing the first two isn't a requirement for playing through 3. From all of the reviews, Nintendo has tried to broaden the reach with Prime 3.

yeah, I think I'll ry to pick this up this week. I watched a whole bunch of preview videos on the Wii channel over the weekend, and the game just looks great.
Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy - both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.

This looks pretty awesome from what I'm reading. A minimal amount of the boring backtracking, not as much reliance on cryptic clues as to where you have to go next (like Prime 1's "Go here but we're not going to even hint at the complicated route you have to take to get there."), more character involvement in the story and superb use of Wii controls. I hope to beat BioShock today and if so I'll probably pick this up.

See, I actually liked that the routes weren't clearly laid out in MP1. That's what Metroid's always been about for me: here's this place you're trying to get to, the fun part is figuring out how to get there. Echoes stumped me one too many times though, which killed the momentum. I also liked that in Prime 1, aside from finding the relics (that part didn't sit well with me, as some were just TOO obscure), there were goodies hidden all over the place that made it worth re-exploring areas once you had additional powers (again, just like old Metroid games).
That's Metroid to me, and I hope that MP3 isn't too linear as a result.
I gave 80% odds that you'd have some sort of oppressed minority comment in there.
I'm with Parralax, it sounds like they've sorted out some of my gripes with the first one (skipped the second) so I'll definitely get it one way or another once I wrap up Bioshock.
Yeah, it's scary. I'm staring into the abyss right now, and it's staring into me, which I think is kind of a dick move on the abyss's part. - Nyles

Frankly, RE:4 sold me on aiming with the Wii-mote in a shooter, and I can't wait to do it and actually STRAFE.
This is definitely on my list, too bad I got a late start on Bioshock.

Arg, it doesn't release here (NZ) until 26 October. What the hell?
Actually, I wasn't trying to make a dig at all. I know that many people will be getting to it AFTER Bioshock, and for some people, when they finish Bioshock, they'll be waiting on Halo.
You know me better than Certis. I won't be making the oppressed minority comments, unless SMG doesn't get GOTW.
Anything that puts Mario in a Bee Suit deserves GOTW.

Anyone actually played it yet? I'm hankering for a review from you guys.

It's not in stores until tomorrow, I believe. I didn't get my annoying call from Gamestop asking for me to bring my trades in.

You might want to get that checked out before it turns into strep or something.

I'm on board. I have to check out the controls in a Wii game that someone actually put some time into. I doubt it will blow me away as much as MP1 did though.
I still have to finish Bioshock too.
Guys, I want this game. Badly. I need some solid shooting action that doesn't involve stupid analog sticks. Can't wait!!!

A buddy of mine is planning to get this tomorrow (and with him, it takes a game of absolute awesomeness to get him to but a game at full price, let alone on release day). I should be able to give it a try this weekend when we hang out. Can't wait.

The backtracking and controls were the reason I never finished the Gamecube one. This sounds very promising. This year just keeps on getting better and better in terms of games.

I liked the backtracking, I liked the cryptic clues.
This may not be very Metroid-y.

I hope Gamefly ships me my copy today, starting to get a bit antsy. I only played the first Prime and I always felt a tad claustrophic with the visor in standard 4:3 tv format, I'm hoping with widescreen it feels more open and lifelike.
