It's Sunday at 1244 ET. There are 4 hours and 51 minutes left in the first turn. Five players have logged their turns; seven have not.

Crap. I won't be able to log any turns till late Monday night at the earliest.

In Ultima Online I used to poison hams and leave them on the ground in cities for people to pick up and eat. I can't believe how many people thought street ham was a good thing to eat. -Elliottx

By the way, the server should always be available. I only limited the time of the event because my original setup had it spamming the calendar every day, which I imagine some people would find annoying (I did, at any rate ;p)

I suspected that with the "stealth" start of game 1 (no lead time announced for when the game would actually begin) there would be several people who would miss their first couple of turns from not seeing the announcement in time.

Whew, that makes me feel better.

Oops, I thought everyone was expecting a start this weekend, though I admit not remembering if that was ever explicitly stated, and I didn't discover the 'event' post until after starting.

I may have to pull a last minute drop out guys. New equipment for Bioshock came in Friday, but the mobo was DOA. I'm preparing to go through the replacement process with newegg, but that means it won't be until late this week or possibly after Labor Day before I'm back up and running. I might be able to talk a friend into installing it for me for just the next week so I can continue to participate. What do you guys think?

buzzvang - if you can get a friend to install and play from there, do so. Just because you miss a few days shouldn't mean you have to miss the whole thing.

I just took my first turn last night as well. I don't mind, though.

D'oh! I posted in the other thread thinking this game had been restarted. I'm a moron!

Dunno how much the 1-2 turn delay will hurt people. I know I struggle in BtS on Noble anyway, so it's not like I'll be a big threat anyway.

So, when we're done with our turn, we exit to menu?
(first time playing this mode)

Make sure to hit enter, maybe a few times. There should be blinking text near the bottom of the screen that changes from "Press Enter to end your turn" to "Waiting for other players". Then you exit to menu/desktop wherever.

If everyone does that early, the round ends early and you advance to the next one.

If anyone does not, it stays with the default turn timer (24 hours).

I was looking at the stats page that was mentioned in the "interest thread" and noticed that even though I've taken control of Ethiopia, the Nation shows "unknown". Anyone know why that is? I didn't register my leader. Could that be it?

Absurddoctor, could you put a link to the stats page on the initial post? Oh, and thanks for setting up this game!

The actual civstats site doesn't appear to have been updated for BtS, so any new leaders will result in 'unknown nation'. The news page mentions that the uploader was updated for BtS, so accurate information may be stored somewhere and just not being displayed yet.

And I knew I was forgetting something! Link added.

Hmm. I seem to be having a problem. I got logged in and took my first turn just fine (Sitting Bull). When I joined the game I did not (to the best of my knowledge) create a password, leaving the field blank. Now when I try to log in to the game I get an invalid password message. Any ideas?

There is a game password, which is separate from the civilization password, the game password is 'gwjgwj'.

We're playing v3.03 then, I hope? When I first tried to sign in, it was complaining about version differences, so I updated to that version and it seems to work now, anyways.

Also, do I need to "End my Turn" as you would do in Single Player games?

Yeah, versions 3.03.

And yeah, you need to actually end your turn

I get this same warning, but it lets me play. If there is an actual version difference, it won't even let you get that far. If you bought via Steam, disable autoupdates for the game to avoid future headaches.

I haven't seen one village on the map yet. But my area of the map is so loaded with fur resources it's going to make the PETA people even crazier than they are over Mike Vick (once I get some camps set up).
